Experience the Magical Diamond Fuji Viewing at Sunshine 60 Observatory in Tokyo

Discover the Spectacular Diamond Fuji at Sunshine 60 Observatory

In the heart of Ikebukuro, Tokyo, the Sunshine 60 Observatory is hosting a uniquely spectacular event titled "Tentai Park," featuring the highly anticipated diamond Fuji viewing from January 25 to January 29. This rare event offers a chance to witness the breathtaking moment when the setting sun aligns perfectly with the summit of Mount Fuji. With clear weather conditions, visitors can enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime sight that occurs only a few days a year.

Visitors are invited to ascend to the observatory, which stands at 227 meters above ground level, away from any obstructive buildings. During these special days, a limited number of 12 participants each day will be granted exclusive access to the roof of the Sunshine 60 building, where they can feel the urban breeze and capture memorable photographs of the stunning diamond Fuji. This unique viewing is scheduled around 4:50 PM, with the most ideal alignment occurring on January 27.

To complement the viewing experience, the observatory is also coordinating an engaging quiz competition in collaboration with Konica Minolta Planetarium Manten on January 24 and February 2. This trivia contest, suitable for both children and adults, will allow participants to test their astronomical knowledge for a chance to win special prizes. On February 2, coinciding with February's full moon, known as the "Snow Moon," powerful telescopes will be set up indoors, enabling guests to observe the moon’s surface comfortably from a warm environment.

Amidst the crisp winter air, this event promises an enchanting spectacle of celestial beauty against the backdrop of Tokyo’s cityscape. In celebration of the diamond Fuji viewing, Tentai Park Cafe will be offering a special treat called the "Nichirin Yakiimo Parfait" from January 23 to January 29. This delightful dessert, resembling Mount Fuji, features a blue soft-serve ice cream topped with a round sweet potato, symbolizing the radiant sun.
