Hallcon Breaks Ground on Washington's Largest Electric Vehicle Fleet Charging Facility
On July 22, 2025, Hallcon Corporation made headlines by officially breaking ground on a massive Electric Vehicle Operations Center (EVOC) in Redmond, Washington. This facility, the largest of its kind in the state, is designed to meet the rising demand for eco-friendly transportation and charging solutions in the Puget Sound area.
The EVOC spans nearly four acres and incorporates an impressive 60 high-capacity charging ports, energized by over 5 megawatts of power. This cutting-edge infrastructure is set to dominate the region, accommodating the charging of more than 300 vehicles daily, including motorcoaches and shuttles. To ensure reliability even during emergencies, the center will boast a backup power system of 1.5 megawatts.
John R. Stoiber, Hallcon's President and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about this groundbreaking moment, noting, “As part of Hallcon's vision for sustainable transportation initiated in 2017, we are thrilled to introduce our newest EV Operations Center in Redmond. With its world-class charging capacity and impressive fleet electrification capabilities, we aim to make Redmond and Washington a hub for sustainable transportation.”
The benefits of this facility extend far beyond just electrification; once fully operational, the EVOC is anticipated to eliminate an astounding 25,000 tons of carbon emissions annually. This is the equivalent of removing thousands of conventional vehicles from local roads every year, underscoring Hallcon's commitment to a cleaner environment. The facility's design also features valet-style charging and vehicle staging services for fleet clients, and it aims to create nearly 50 new green jobs in the area.
Mayor Angela Birney commented on the significance of Hallcon’s establishment in Redmond, stating, “Our Economic Development Strategic Plan, adopted last year, outlined our goals to attract companies committed to sustainability. Hallcon is making remarkable strides in this area, and we are delighted to welcome such a high-caliber EV charging facility here.”
The construction of Hallcon's EV Operations Center will occur in phases to accommodate the evolving needs of its clients, ensuring that the facility remains adaptable and responsive to the increasing demand for EV charging solutions in the area. Expected to wrap up by the end of 2025, the EVOC will not only serve as a critical infrastructure component but will also furnish advanced EV analytics and command center services to assist customers across the region.
Washington State Senator Vandana Slatter, representing the 48th Legislative District, acknowledged the groundbreaking with enthusiasm, remarking, “Supporting electrification and clean mobility is crucial in fulfilling Washington's ambitious climate objectives. Hallcon's leadership serves as a prime example of what can be achieved when private investments marry public interests, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.”
Aaron August, Senior Vice President and Chief Customer and Transformation Officer at Puget Sound Energy, highlighted the partnership with Hallcon as a testament to the commitment to fostering sustainable transportation: “Collaborating with Hallcon on their EV Operations Center is in line with our goal to accelerate clean transportation. Such initiatives play a vital role in achieving the ambitious clean energy goals set forth for Washington State, while also providing long-term environmental and economic advantages to the communities we serve.”
