Green Energy Co. Expands Joint Battery Storage Plant Projects with Kuradashi

Introduction

Green Energy Company, located in Tokyo and Tokushima, has recently partnered with Kuradashi, a firm based in Shinagawa, to launch a joint project focusing on battery storage plants tailored for grid use. This partnership has resulted in the creation of a special purpose company known as Kuradashi Investment No. 2 LLC, aiming to facilitate the development and operation of these critical energy infrastructures.

Project Background

Since its inception in 2009, Green Energy Company has been dedicated to promoting renewable energy as part of its mission, which emphasizes the importance of creating a greener world for people and the planet. To date, the company has successfully developed around 5,500 power generation facilities across Japan. The initiation of this battery storage project, leveraging grid batteries, marks a significant step forward, with plans for nine operational sites, 20 additional sites to be launched soon, and over 100 new developments currently underway as of July 2026.

Kuradashi, listed on the Tokyo Growth Market, is driven by its mission to harmonize economic viability with social responsibility, focusing on tackling food waste and expanding into renewable energy solutions. It was in January 2025 that the company ventured into renewable energy, aligning with its objective of making a positive social impact.

Importance of Battery Storage

The increasing urgency surrounding climate change necessitates an accelerated adoption of renewable energy. However, the variability associated with renewable sources requires robust mechanisms to ensure steady and reliable energy supply. Thus, the expansion and enhancement of battery storage systems are paramount in achieving these goals. In light of this, Green Energy Company and Kuradashi have solidified a foundational agreement in June 2026 to move forward with this joint venture.

Project Details

Under this partnership, the primary focus will be on developing and operating two specific grid-connected battery facilities located in Shizuoka and Shimane Prefectures. The first facility in Shizuoka is expected to commence operations by August 2026, having already secured power connection as of June 2026.

Key Characteristics of Kuradashi Investment No. 2 LLC

  • - Location: Meguro Center Building, 5F, 3-2-1 Kamiosaki, Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan
  • - Function: Focused on the installation, operation, and maintenance of battery storage systems, as well as the management of power transactions related to energy supply and demand adjustments.

Partnership Dynamics

This partnership utilizes a profit-sharing model, where both Green Energy Company and Kuradashi hold equal stakes of 50%. As part of the asset management contract, Kuradashi will oversee all operational aspects from development to management of the storage facilities. Future plans include seeking project financing from financial institutions and attracting additional partners to expand the scale of operations further.

Conclusion

The collaborative efforts between Green Energy Company and Kuradashi are set to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy technologies while contributing to the creation of a sustainable society. By expanding their operational capacity in battery storage plants, they aim not only to meet current energy demands but also to foster long-term social impact, ensuring that future generations inherit a greener planet.
