Alasdair J. MacKinnon is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of robust experience in finance and auditing, both in the U.S. and Europe. He is currently the Managing Director at Acclarity, where he has spearheaded transformative Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) initiatives and regulatory compliance strategies for diverse organizations. His expertise encompasses leading operational audits and he has worked with various public companies, educational institutions, and major distributors.

Previously, MacKinnon served as Vice President of Internal Audit at Home Properties. Here, he made significant advancements in data analytics within the auditing framework, advised on IT and risk management initiatives, and participated actively in strategic decision-making processes across multiple committees. His tenure at Google was marked by his leadership of global internal audit teams, focusing on high-risk areas and successively reducing compliance risks while amplifying operational efficiency.

MacKinnon's career is further distinguished by roles at Global Crossing and extensive experiences in external auditing with reputable firms like Arthur Andersen and PricewaterhouseCoopers across the U.S. and the UK. Regarded for his collaborative approach and commitment to driving sustainable improvements in financial governance, MacKinnon holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Glasgow and holds Chartered Accountant (Scotland) and Certified Internal Auditor qualifications.

This announcement follows the unexpected passing of Edward W Kay, Jr., a valued member of Vuzix's Board since April 2016. MacKinnon will be stepping into Kay’s responsibilities on the board and will serve as Chairperson of the Audit Committee.
