About 'Light of the Port'

Directed by Michihiro Fujii, who previously won the Best Director Award at the 48th Japan Academy Awards for 'The True Nature', this film showcases a gripping original story set in a port town in the Hokuriku region. The film stars Hiroshi Tachi as a former yakuza, and features rising star Masahide Onoe as the blind boy Kouta, alongside Goudon Maeida who plays the grown-up Kouta. The film depicts the profound friendship between the ex-yakuza and the blind boy over the years, transcending age to form a remarkable bond.

Plot Summary:
Miura, a former yakuza now living as a fisherman, stumbles upon Kouta, a boy who lost his sight in an accident. Kouta, who is enduring abuse after losing his parents in a car accident, finds solace in the friendship with Miura. They build a unique bond, only for Miura to mysteriously vanish after saving up for Kouta’s surgery. Twelve years later, after regaining his sight, Kouta strives to find Miura, uncovering secrets along the way.
