BILLINGS Unveils Exciting Summer Art + Design Lineup
Los Angeles, June 11, 2025 – BILLINGS is thrilled to announce its much-anticipated Summer Modern Art + Design and Contemporary Design auctions, scheduled for June 28 and 29, 2025. With over 500 lots available, these auctions are curated to captivate modern art and design enthusiasts, offering a unique glimpse into the dynamic world of 20th-century and contemporary artistry.
Summer Modern Art + Design Auction
The main event kicks off on Saturday, June 28, at 10 AM PT. Auction participants can engage via in-person, online, absentee, or phone bidding options. This marquee event will showcase over 400 meticulously curated lots, featuring exceptional 20th-century furniture, lighting, artwork, and decorative objects from renowned design hubs including Italy, France, Scandinavia, and the United States.
Key Highlights
Among the standout pieces is a striking biomorphic coffee table crafted by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings in 1952, featuring an original lime green glass top. The collection additionally boasts an iconic 'Elipsis' mosaic by the celebrated California mid-century artist Evelyn Ackerman, along with a delicate Weed Pot by noteworthy ceramicist Doyle Lane, recognized as a pivotal figure in the Black Arts movement.
Another highlight includes a debut series of acrylic sculptures by Jackie Greber, a Light and Space artist praised by Artforum for her enchanting works. Additionally, participants can look forward to exceptional craft furniture and studio pottery from artists such as John Nyquist, Jack Rogers Hopkins, Stan Bitters, Peter Voulkos, and Mineo Mizuno.
Contemporary Design Auction
On Sunday, June 29, starting at 11 AM PT, BILLINGS will host an online-only auction featuring over 100 lots of contemporary furniture, lighting, and artworks from innovative studios and designers. The collection will be accentuated by striking pieces from legacy brands such as BB Italia, Minotti, Flos, Ligne Roset, and Louis Poulsen.
Among the celebrated designers featured in this auction are Patricia Urquiola, Kelly Wearstler, Sebastian Herkner, and Pierre Charpin. Moreover, the auction will highlight re-edited modern classics by iconic designers including Joe Colombo, Eileen Gray, and Vico Magistretti. Fine art and photography offerings from talents such as Brian Bowen Smith, Fernando Mastrangelo, and Bradley Duncan will also grace the online auction.
Additionally, the auction includes collectible objects and rare decor items, including works by prominent pop artist KAWS, which are sure to intrigue collectors.
