Dive into the Zero Marine Waste Week Kickoff Event in Ariake
Get ready to participate in a unique event that promises both excitement and environmental consciousness! Scheduled for May 31, 2025, in the vibrant area of Ariake, Tokyo, this kickoff celebration for Zero Marine Waste Week 2025 is organized by the Japan Foundation and the Ministry of the Environment, and facilitated by the Japan Cosplay Culture Promotion Association under the leadership of Chairperson Chizuko Amano. It’s a fantastic opportunity to come together and make an impact!
Event Highlights: SportGOMI and More!
The event will take place at the Ariake Garden Sports Entertainment Square, and it features a special segment called SportGOMI. This engaging activity turns litter collection into a competitive sport where participants compete based on the amount and quality of trash collected within a set time limit. Not only does it foster teamwork and strategic thinking, but it also ensures that everyone has a great time contributing to a cleaner environment. There will be prizes for winners, ensuring that the thrill doesn't fall short!
Learn and Have Fun: Marine Litter Quiz and Talks
After the thrilling SportGOMI challenge, participants can take part in an informative stage called the “Zero Marine Litter Talk Live.” This engaging session aims to make the pressing issue of marine litter relatable and understandable. Enjoy a quiz contest with prizes, along with various interactive stage events designed to impart valuable insights on the marine litter problem. Let your curiosity grow while enjoying the various activities!
Dress Up and Make a Difference!
Do you love cosplay? Here’s your chance! As part of the kickoff event, we’re hosting the “Cosplay de Zero Marine Waste Operation feat. SportGOMI in Ariake.” Children will have the opportunity to borrow cosplay costumes for free, transforming into their favorite heroes, heroines, or princesses while assisting in the litter collection efforts. Families and friends are encouraged to make memories as they participate in the eco-friendly initiative together.
Don’t miss the chance to strut your costume on the stage, showcasing your child’s transformation! Be sure to capture those precious moments on camera!
Family-Friendly Environment
This event is perfect for families that wish to learn about the environment while having fun. Participation is completely free, and light snacks will be offered, making it easy for anyone to join. So, grab your friends and family, and let’s work together to create a garbage-free future!
“Go Blue” Dress Code
This year’s event invites everyone to wear blue, echoing the theme of ocean conservation. Be creative - hats, T-shirts, or accessories in blue are all welcome! If you don’t have anything blue, don’t worry; participants will receive a blue tote bag as a token of appreciation. Join the sense of community and solidarity as we all come together to protect our oceans.
