FIC Global and Cape EMS Join Forces to Enhance AI and Optical Manufacturing in Southeast Asia

FIC Global Partners with Cape EMS for Manufacturing Expansion

In a strategic move to bolster its manufacturing capabilities in Southeast Asia, FIC Global Inc. (FICG) has joined forces with Cape EMS Berhad, a prominent player in the Malaysian market. This partnership aims to strengthen FICG’s presence in the region, particularly in the rapidly expanding sectors of artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), data centers, and high-speed optical communications.

The foundational step to this collaboration was marked on October 16, 2026, when representatives from FICG’s subsidiary, PRO3C (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., and Cape EMS signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and a conditional subscription agreement for redeemable convertible preference shares (RCPS). This agreement positions Cape EMS as a local strategic partner supporting PRO3C’s operations in Johor, Malaysia.

Following the grand opening of PRO3C's manufacturing facility on October 15, 2026, the site will expand its existing eight surface-mount technology (SMT) lines to 18 by the end of 2027, contingent upon market demand and operational necessities. This enhancement is expected to increase flexibility in operations and improve the overall supply chain integration.

Cape EMS will provide comprehensive support services to PRO3C, including warehousing and material kitting. The collaboration is designed to combine PRO3C’s advanced engineering capabilities and global customer network with Cape EMS’s established infrastructure and skilled workforce. Mr. Leo Chien, the Chairman of FICG, expressed confidence in Cape EMS, describing this partnership as a stepping stone toward advancing AI infrastructure and next-generation optical interconnect technologies.

He highlighted, "Our goal extends beyond immediate manufacturing needs. We aim to establish a lasting, mutually beneficial alliance that not only supports our momentum in Johor but also fosters the growth of Malaysia's advanced manufacturing ecosystem."

Further solidifying their commitment, PRO3C has also agreed to invest RM50 million in Cape EMS’s RCPS, enhancing their long-term collaboration. This strategic investment aligns with FICG's broader operations and expansion plans in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.

Unlike simple outsourcing agreements, this collaboration, underpinned by a strategic investment, facilitates closer cooperation in resource management and operational planning. It sets the stage for future advancements in manufacturing capabilities and business growth.

The partnership aligns with FICG's Johor–Singapore Twinning Strategy, merging PRO3C's operational strengths in Johor with an upcoming Innovation and Supply Chain Centre in Singapore. This initiative will focus on global innovation and strategic sourcing, enhancing supply chain management and customer engagement on an international scale.

This synergetic approach leverages FICG's manufacturing excellence in Taiwan, Malaysia's production assets, and Singapore's global connectivity, aiming to fortify its cross-border operational framework. As the company scales operations within PRO3C's Johor facility, it will prioritize a development strategy that balances capacity expansion with capital efficiency and operational resilience.

FIC Global and Cape EMS’s collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing the manufacturing landscape in Southeast Asia, reinforcing their commitment to meet the burgeoning global demand for cutting-edge technology. The partnership not only reflects FICG’s strategic growth ambitions but also promises to contribute significantly to the region’s advanced manufacturing capabilities, paving the way for future innovations.
