Dr. Shetty comes to this position with a wealth of experience, having previously served as the medical director of Neonatal Cardiology at the same institution. Her extensive background in managing complex neonatal cardiac cases makes her ideally suited to expand the NICU's capabilities in pediatric cardiology as well.

Graham Tse, M.D., the chief medical officer at Miller Children's & Women's Hospital, expressed confidence in Dr. Shetty’s leadership qualities. Her background in neonatal cardiology and congenital heart disease will be invaluable as we continue to expand care for at-risk infants through advanced treatments and research."

In her new role, Dr. Shetty will oversee the day-to-day operations of the NICU, ensuring that it continues to provide exemplary care for critically ill newborns. She takes over from Dr. Antoine Soliman, who has transitioned to a regional medical director position to lead the expansion of neonatal services in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

While Dr. Soliman focuses on broader regional strategies, Dr. Shetty is set to enhance the NICU’s operations. Together, they aim to push the boundaries of neonatal care, ensuring that families have access to top-tier medical support during challenging times. This includes specialized programs like the Tiny Baby Program, which supports infants born before 28 weeks of gestation or those weighing fewer than two pounds at birth.

Miller Children's & Women's Hospital's NICU holds a Level IV designation—the highest for neonatal care. This classification signifies that the unit is capable of managing the most severe cases, ensuring that infants receive the best chance for survival and growth.

Miller Children’s also boasts a dedicated transport program that operates 24/7. A specialized team of physicians and nurses is available to facilitate the smooth transfer of infants from nearby hospitals, bringing essential services directly to those in need.

Dr. Shetty joined Miller Children's & Women's in 2024 after serving as the assistant chief of inpatient pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara for 14 years. She completed her fellowship in pediatric cardiac intensive care at UPMC Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, further solidifying her qualifications in the field of neonatal medicine.
