Xposure’s 10th Anniversary: A Celebration of Visual Storytelling

Xposure, the renowned international photography festival, is set to mark a significant milestone in its journey as it celebrates its 10th anniversary in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. From January 29 to February 4, 2026, the festival will present a special edition entitled "A Decade of Visual Storytelling," showcasing the artistry and creativity of 420 globally recognized artists. This year, the event is poised to transform about 49,000 square meters of Aljada into a bustling hub for photography and cinema enthusiasts.

A Grand Gathering of Artists

The festival will host an impressive lineup of activities—570 in total—featuring 95 exhibitions displaying around 3,200 works across various styles and genres. In addition, attendees can participate in enriching talks, hands-on workshops, and portfolio reviews, fostering an environment for learning and collaboration. Organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), Xposure has evolved into an influential platform uniting photography with creativity and social awareness.

Tariq Saeed Allay, the Director General of SGMB, emphasizes Sharjah's ongoing commitment to fostering culture as a vehicle for understanding and positive change. He notes that Xposure has created a space where diverse stories and perspectives resonate, inviting meaningful human connections.

Since its inaugural event in 2016, Xposure has gathered photographers, filmmakers, and visual artists from over 100 countries. This milestone edition also builds on the legacy of the Xposure Photography and Film Awards which, this year, received over 29,000 submissions and 634 films from more than 60 nations. This robust participation highlights the festival’s significance on a global scale.

Environmental Awareness Through Photography

Prominent environmental photographer Sebastian Copeland notes that Xposure not only showcases the beauty of photography as an art form but also serves as a powerful tool for raising environmental awareness. Adding to this theme, acclaimed American photographer George Steinmetz will present his aerial project, “Feeding the Planet,” which examines global food systems over a twelve-year span.

Moreover, the festival will feature Athens as the honored guest city this year, presenting a special program that will delve into the city's rich history, vibrant culture, and contemporary creativity. This partnership not only enriches the festival's offerings but also illustrates how cultural connections can bridge geographic divides, providing a platform for creative exchange and inspiration.

Looking Ahead: A Festival of Connection and Creativity

As Xposure prepares for this grand anniversary edition, it stands as a testament to the transformative power of visual storytelling, demonstrating how photography can ignite conversations, evoke emotions, and inspire action. The excitement surrounding this incredible gathering of talents underscores the festival's dedication to celebrating creativity in all its forms.
