SHIBUYA FOOD ISLANDS Launches to Enhance Shibuya's Culinary Experience

Culinary Discoveries Await at SHIBUYA FOOD ISLANDS

The Tokyu Department Store has unveiled an innovative food area named SHIBUYA FOOD ISLANDS, envisioned under the banner of Shibuya Food Discovery. This expansive 10,000 square meter culinary hub brings together approximately 240 food shops, making it the largest of its kind surrounding Shibuya Station. With its goal to enhance the culinary experience, SHIBUYA FOOD ISLANDS embraces five core roles: new food discoveries, food producers, food navigators, local food introductions, and social contributions through food. Visitors to Shibuya can now enjoy a fresh and engaging dining experience.

The Vision of SHIBUYA FOOD ISLANDS

The launch of SHIBUYA FOOD ISLANDS aims to connect the four key locations and eight floors of Shibuya’s food scene, encouraging patrons to immerse themselves in their own unique gastronomic journeys. This initiative will facilitate casual and enjoyable exploration of the diverse food offerings available around Shibuya.

1. Digital Food Navigator: Shibuya Food Digital Map

To provide seamless navigation through this vibrant food landscape, a digital map has been implemented. Accessible via smartphones, this digital resource guides visitors to various stores and their distinctive offerings, minimizing the time spent searching for desired items. It further allows easy viewing of recommended products linked to events and campaigns. Check out the map here.

2. Discover the 'EATREND' in Shibuya

Staying updated with the latest culinary offerings is a breeze with the SHIBUYA EATREND〈EAT+TREND〉 initiative. The official Tokyu Department Store Instagram account (@tokyudept.food_official) will be sharing daily updates from the three main food areas, ensuring that food lovers don’t miss out on all that Shibuya has to offer.

3. Food Adventure at SHIBUYA FOOD DUNGEON

For food enthusiasts, SHIBUYA FOOD DUNGEON is currently running until September 3rd. This culinary festival in the four Shibuya locations features special food items inspired by the upcoming film Taro-Man: The Great Expo Explosion, scheduled to be released on August 22, 2025. Attendees can enjoy unique bites inspired by retro aesthetics, alongside engaging activities like scavenger hunts throughout the district. Learn more about it here.

4. Enhanced Delivery Services

To further cater to the needs of the Shibuya community, delivery services are being expanded. Both the Shibuya Tokyu Food Show and Toyoko Noren Street will begin offering Wolt delivery services in September, supplementing existing options. With over 2,000 gourmet items available including prepared dishes, sushi, and desserts, customers can enjoy Shibuya’s culinary delights from the comfort of their homes or offices.

5. Introduction of New Shops

SHIBUYA FOOD ISLANDS is also set to welcome various new and popular shops along the Tokyu Line, enriching Shibuya’s food culture. Notable examples include:
  • - SACYA: A modern matcha café just seconds from Daikanyama Station, specializing in matcha drinks and innovative sweets, available at Shibuya Food Show Edge.
  • - Dai-Chin Chuhau: A Cantonese restaurant famous for its dumplings and wholesome medicinal dishes, found at Shibuya Hikarie’s Toyoko Noren Street.
  • - Huffnagel: A pastry shop with a history rooted in Western-style hotels, now debuting in Tokyo with delectable butter sandwiches and stylish packaging at the Shibuya Food Show.

Conclusion

Through SHIBUYA FOOD ISLANDS, the Tokyu Department Store intends to elevate Shibuya as one of Japan's largest food towns, continuously delivering unique culinary experiences and memorable moments to all visitors. Enjoy a vibrant and flavorful journey as you explore these new offerings and make delightful discoveries in the heart of Shibuya.
