JBL Summit Series: A New Era in High-Fidelity Audio
From May 15 to May 18, 2025, the renowned HIGH END Munich event will host the unveiling of JBL’s latest flagship series, the Summit Series, marking a significant milestone in the world of premium audio. Developed by Harman International, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, this release embodies decades of JBL’s innovation in sound technology, focused on producing an unparalleled listening experience.
Legacy of Excellence
Established in 1986 with models like the Project EVEREST DD55000 and Project K2 S9500, JBL has continuously raised the bar for high-fidelity audio equipment. As JBL approaches its 80th anniversary, the Summit Series stands as a testament to the brand's engineering prowess and passion for sound quality, pushing the boundaries of audio reproduction.
Inspired by Nature
The Summit Series comprises three models—Summit Makalu, Summit Pumori, and Summit Ama—each named after the majestic Himalayan peaks, reflecting not only the brand's heritage but also its commitment to exceptional audio experiences. According to Jim Garrett, Senior Director of Luxury Audio at Harman International, the new series captures the essence of JBL’s identity, merging acoustic precision, timeless design, and emotional resonance in music.
Key Features
Each model in the Summit Series shares a timeless design characterized by soft contours and an ebony finish featuring gold accents. Built to eliminate unnecessary resonance, they incorporate a refined bracing structure. Notably, these are the first JBL speakers to incorporate adjustable IsoAcoustics™ isolation feet, alongside carbon-fiber-coated rhodium-plated binding posts for optimal signal transmission. The proprietary MultiCap™ crossover network ensures the purest audio signal delivery to each unit.
Summit Makalu
As the flagship of the series, Summit Makalu is named after one of the world's highest peaks, located just 19 kilometers from Mount Everest. This three-way floor-standing speaker deploys JBL’s innovative HC4 composite cone technology featuring a 300mm woofer, a 200mm mid-range driver, and the highly efficient D2 compression driver, paired with an HDI™ Sonoglass® horn.
Summit Pumori
Bringing together exceptional sound quality and design, Summit Pumori is inspired by the "daughter of Everest." This floor-standing speaker also features JBL’s HC4 composite cone technology, combining a 250mm woofer and a 200mm mid-range driver with the D2 compression driver and HDI™ horn—the perfect balance between performance and heritage.
Summit Ama
Named after the stunning Ama Dablam peak, Summit Ama is a compact two-way bookshelf speaker featuring a 200mm HC4 cone woofer. It employs a D2 compression driver coupled with an HDI™ horn, delivering impressive sound without compromising on space or aesthetics.
Visual Appeal
The Summit Series offers not only high-end performance but also stunning visuals that fit seamlessly into various interior designs. Its refined appearance alongside cutting-edge technology makes these speakers a perfect addition to any audio enthusiast's collection.
