Therme Group to Develop Asia's First State-of-the-Art Wellbeing Sanctuary in Singapore

Therme Group to Develop Singapore's First Wellbeing Oasis

Therme Group, a leader in next-generation wellbeing destinations, has secured a significant milestone with the awarding of a tender by the Singapore Tourism Board. This project will see the creation of a groundbreaking S$1 billion wellbeing destination at the scenic Marina South Coastal site. Not only does this mark Therme Group's initial venture into Singapore, but it also establishes the first large-scale social wellbeing infrastructure project in Asia.

A Vision for Urban Wellbeing

The proposed development will transform a 4-hectare waterfront area adjacent to famous attractions like Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay into a dynamic urban oasis. Once fully operational, the Therme Singapore facility is expected to welcome approximately 2 million visitors each year, with a significant portion coming from abroad. This project aims to redefine how urban centers can incorporate elements of wellbeing into everyday life by seamlessly integrating water, nature, and architecture.

The design of Therme Singapore will be a collaborative effort, primarily done in partnership with award-winning architecture firm DP Architects and Therme ARC, the in-house design wing of Therme Group. Dr. Robert Hanea, the company's Founder and CEO, stated, "We are crafting a destination that brings together wellness, culture, and nature—truly designed for residents and tourists alike. This space will contribute to a holistic health experience accessible to everyone."

Promoting Community and Connection

Reflecting the importance of community, Therme Singapore is envisioned as a welcoming space for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Mah Bow Tan, Chairman of Therme Group Asia, emphasized the importance of creating an environment that fosters social connections and collective wellbeing. Through strategic partnerships with local organizations, the project aims to enrich the surrounding public spaces, further enhancing the sense of community.

Unlike traditional spas and resorts, Therme Singapore will be a comprehensive wellbeing destination embodying the core pillars of Water, Nature, Sustainability, Design, and Arts & Culture. Visitors can expect to find an impressive array of thermal pools, vibrant gardens, world-class art, and cutting-edge health technology—all designed to promote relaxation and rejuvenation.

A Sustainable Future

Therme Singapore is committed to sustainability, incorporating advanced technologies that prioritize energy efficiency and environmental harmony. The design includes high-efficiency water recycling, sustainable energy solutions, and a cohesive biophilic design that integrates the wellbeing infrastructure with the adjacent coastal park, creating a seamless green space along the waterfront.

Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive of the Experience Development Group at the Singapore Tourism Board, expressed excitement at the awarding of this significant wellness attraction. She stated, "Our mission is to establish Singapore as a leading urban wellness hub, and this partnership with Therme Group aligns perfectly with our vision. It promises transformative wellness experiences for both locals and visitors, enhancing the city’s appeal as a quality tourism destination while also enriching the daily lives of residents."

The Future of Wellbeing

Recognized globally for its innovative approaches to wellness, Therme Group is on a mission to make wellbeing more accessible. Their unique facilities aim to eliminate the exclusivity often associated with modern wellness brands. Each Therme offers a variety of experiences that range from thermal bathing and spa services to engaging cultural and wellness programming, all in sustainable, immersive environments.

With more destinations in development around the world, including cities like Manchester, Frankfurt, Toronto, and Washington, Therme Group continues to pioneer new standards in urban wellbeing. The upcoming Therme Singapore is set to showcase the very best in wellness infrastructure, ultimately aiming to reconnect individuals with themselves, their communities, and nature in a beautifully designed environment.

Every aspect of Therme Singapore will be tailored to meet the needs of modern life, ensuring that visitors can explore what wellbeing means for them within a revitalizing atmosphere. As the project progresses, it promises to become a jewel on Singapore’s Marina Bay, solidifying the city’s reputation as a leader in holistic wellness for all.
