Welcome to Himawari House: Inspiring Health and Connection
SOMPO Himawari Life Insurance Co., Ltd., led by President Yasuki Kume, has announced the launch of a new vertical short drama titled "Welcome to Himawari House". Set to premiere in installments starting December 1, 2025, this series aims to communicate the company’s values and services as a health-supporting enterprise to a wider audience.
Background and Objectives
As a vision-driven company that promotes daily health alongside insurance coverage, SOMPO Himawari intertwines the aspects of insurance (Insurance) and health support (Healthcare), coining the term "Insurhealth®" as a novel value offering. The motivation for this video series is to enhance awareness about its role as a health-promoting enterprise. With smartphone video consumption becoming central to daily life, particularly among younger audiences, the decision to create a vertical short drama format was intentional. This format resonates with how audiences interact with daily information, providing an engaging way for viewers to reflect on health and authenticity.
The Drama's Plot and Highlights
What does it mean to be one's true self?
The series embodies the company’s vision with the mantra, "Your unique health blooms brilliantly." In an era where social media is filled with aspirational lifestyles, many individuals find themselves subconsciously adhering to societal norms, often losing sight of their true identities. The narrative follows the protagonist, Akari (27), who moves into "Himawari House" seeking an ideal lifestyle, only to discover a contrasting richness in reality, shedding layers of ego and preconceived notions along her journey of rebirth.
"This isn't what I expected!" Following hearsay from friends, Akari moves in without viewing the place, only to find an old apartment filled with quirky and overly helpful residents. Among them is a salaryman who believes that truly resting is the best job, a parent-child duo who promote health through enjoyment rather than obligation, and a photographer who opts for a free-spirited life focused on preparedness rather than perfection.
As Akari interacts with these diverse perspectives, she slowly recognizes that genuine richness lies beyond superficial glamor. Just when she begins to consider Himawari House her true home, an overwhelming crisis threatens the community's existence. Witnessing the support offered to the landlord couple, Akari undergoes a pivotal transformation, discovering what a truly authentic life means.
Viewers are invited to share Akari's relatable mishaps and misunderstandings, ultimately realizing that real richness comes not from dazzling appearances but rather from physical and mental well-being and realistic preparedness for the future.
This story encapsulates the essence of the life that SOMPO Himawari Life Insurance aspires to support as a health-promoting enterprise.
