Genesis Steps Up for Wildfire Relief
Genesis Motor America has made an impactful commitment of $8 million towards wildfire relief efforts in California, launching an initiative named
California Rises in partnership with TGR Live and the PGA Tour. This initiative, designed to support those devastated by the recent wildfires, was announced officially during
The Genesis Invitational, which will take place from February 13 to 16, 2025, at the
Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego.
The
California Rises initiative aims to directly help communities affected by the wildfires that swept through California earlier this year. With the significant contributions from Genesis, TGR Live, and the PGA Tour, the initiative will aid various charitable organizations, including the
American Red Cross,
World Central Kitchen, the
California Fire Foundation, and the
Genesis Inspiration Foundation. The funds allocated will not only assist in immediate relief but also promote long-term rebuilding efforts.
Jose Munoz, President and Global CEO of Genesis, expressed the company's commitment to their Southern California community, stating, "We all want to help after the devastating wildfires. Southern California is our home, and we are proud to support organizations instrumental in the relief and rebuilding efforts."
Despite its traditional location at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, the Genesis Invitational has been relocated to Torrey Pines out of respect for the communities affected by the wildfires. This year, the tournament is set to celebrate its 99th edition while focusing on raising awareness and funds for those impacted.
Contribution Details
Genesis is donating 100 vehicles, valued at approximately $7.5 million, to assist with transportation and recovery efforts for various nonprofit organizations. These vehicles, including the GV70 and GV80 models, will play a crucial role in supporting families and providing necessary transportation to those who have lost their means of mobility. Additionally, the Genesis Inspiration Foundation will use part of the funds to support arts education programs at schools impacted by the fires.
Engaging the Community
Throughout the Genesis Invitational, engaging initiatives will provide opportunities for players, fans, and supporters to contribute to the California Rises initiative. During the tournament, a special program named
Birdies for Good will donate $300 for every birdie and eagle made, with an additional $10,000 for a hole-in-one, directly benefiting California Rises.
Ticket sales from the tournament will also be donated to this charitable initiative. Attendees can purchase exclusive
California Rises merchandise, with 100% of proceeds going to aid those affected by wildfires. Convenient donation links and opportunities will be made available throughout the event for added community support.
Additionally, the inaugural
Chippin' In series will blend entertainment with a charitable impact. The content series features PGA Tour players contributing to the California Fire Foundation while engaging in playful competition. This unique blend of entertainment and charity is set to enhance the tournament experience for spectators both on-site and through broadcasts.
Honoring Heroes
The Genesis Invitational will also honor first responders and frontline workers who valiantly fought against the wildfires. Special guests will attend the tournament, honoring their sacrifices while offering them exclusive access and recognition throughout the event.
