Barry Gosin Announces Retirement as CEO of Newmark Group: A Transition to Leadership Continuity

Barry Gosin to Step Down as CEO of Newmark Group Inc.

In a significant leadership change, Barry Gosin, who has been at the helm of Newmark Group, Inc. since its inception in 1979, is set to retire as Chief Executive Officer effective December 31, 2026. Gosin will continue to serve as Chairman of Newmark & Co. Real Estate, the operating subsidiary of Newmark, ensuring continuity during this transition.

Newmark Group, publicly traded on Nasdaq under the symbol NMRK, is recognized as a leading advisory and service provider in the commercial real estate sector, catering to significant institutional investors, major corporations, and various property owners and users. Gosin’s departure marks a pivotal moment, especially given his role in steering the company through critical milestones, including its public offering in 2017 and transforming it into one of the fastest-growing publicly listed commercial real estate firms globally. The company reported a staggering revenue increase of over 1,400% from 2011 to the present.

Stephen Merkel, Newmark's Chairman, Executive Vice President, and Chief Legal Officer, expressed the board's enthusiasm for Gosin continuing as Chairman of the operating company. The board is committed to facilitating a smooth succession for the incoming CEO, who is anticipated to be named by year’s end.

Gosin remarked, “Having spent nearly my entire career at Newmark and collaborated with an extraordinary team, I believe it’s the right time to step back from day-to-day operations. This decision allows me to focus on pivotal matters for Newmark while supporting the next generation of leaders.
