Tokyu Hotels Introduces Original Whiskey 'Tsuki Goto'



On November 1, 2025, Tokyu Hotels & Resorts Co., based in Shibuya, Tokyo, will unveil its original whiskey called 'Tsuki Goto', crafted in collaboration with Hombo Shuzo, a renowned distillery located in Kagoshima. This new single malt whiskey, produced at the Mars Tsuki Distillery, is set to satisfy the rising demand for Japanese whiskey among hotel guests.

This release marks the second original whiskey offering from Tokyu Hotels, following the successful launch of the 'Single Malt Komagatake Special Edition Goto' last year, which quickly sold out. The guiding concept behind 'Tsuki Goto' is to enhance post-meal experiences for guests, encapsulating a moment of enjoyment during their stay.

A Commitment to Food Excellence



Since its inception, Tokyu Hotels has prioritized the importance of quality dining experiences. The company has undertaken numerous initiatives to enrich the culinary pleasures available at its hotels. This includes the preservation of traditional recipes, development of signature dishes, and accommodating dietary restrictions such as allergies and vegan preferences. The company has a long-standing commitment to staff training, hosting a culinary contest for over 20 years, and, more recently, organizing competitions for restaurant service staff and bartenders.

As part of creating an original whiskey that reflects the essence of Tokyu Hotels, a new project was launched in 2023 with the vision of producing authentic whiskey that embodies the spirit of Japan. This initiative aims to fulfill the company’s purpose of creating memorable moments and fostering memorable experiences for guests. 'Tsuki Goto' seeks to deepen guest engagement and provide a unique opportunity to create lasting memories with every sip.

The Crafting of ‘Tsuki Goto’



In April 2025, a dedicated project team comprising six members from Tokyu Hotels visited the Mars Tsuki Distillery. From a selection of six cask options, they chose a single cask that had been aged for seven years in a Cognac barrel, featuring a robust peat level of 50 ppm and a cask strength of 62%. Unlike traditional Japanese whiskeys that are generally smooth and widely appealing, 'Tsuki Goto' distinguishes itself with complex flavors and a more pronounced character.

Bartender Katsuya Konishi from THE HOTEL HIGASHIYAMA KYOTO TOKYU describes 'Tsuki Goto' as a whiskey best enjoyed in conversation at a bar. He elaborates, “This whiskey features a strong peat aroma complemented by the fruitiness derived from the Cognac cask, making it perfect for whiskey enthusiasts who enjoy nuanced flavors. The experience evolves with water, transitioning from a robust smoky flavor to a soft acidity and even hints of vanilla and honey as the proof is lowered.” He also mentions that unique ways to pair 'Tsuki Goto' with food could be suggested, expanding its appeal to those less familiar with whiskey.

Konishi began his journey in the world of whiskey at the 'Tokyu Hotels Cocktail Competition', where he won the grand prize. Alongside Shigeki Yoshida, the Beverage Director at BELLUSTAR TOKYO, he participated in tastings to curate the selection for this whiskey, showcasing the depth of collaboration that goes into its creation.

Hombo Shuzo expressed their enthusiasm for partnering with Tokyu Hotels, reiterating that the refined whiskey is inspired by the diverse malt options found in Kagoshima. They hope guests will cherish and enjoy this original creation during their time at Tokyu Hotels.

'Tsuki Goto' will be available for shot sales and bottle service at various bars across 15 Tokyu Hotels along with options for purchase through the Tokyu Department Store’s online site and various liquor sales departments starting on November 1, 2025.
