Piramal Pharma Solutions Advances Sustainability Efforts

Piramal Pharma Solutions (PPS), a prominent global Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), is taking significant steps towards sustainability with the construction of a 4.3 MW solar power facility at its integrated site in Morpeth, United Kingdom. This new solar installation is set to directly supply renewable energy through a behind-the-meter configuration, supporting Piramal's ambitious goal of reducing its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by the fiscal year 2030.

Located on approximately 6.5 hectares and equipped with around 6,200 solar panels, the facility is expected to generate approximately 3,950 MWh of renewable energy annually. This amount of power will fulfill about 22% of the site's electricity needs, demonstrating the potential for renewable energy to contribute significantly to operational resilience. The clean energy generated could power approximately 1,460 homes in the UK each year.

The project is being executed in partnership with Alight UK BTM1 Limited, a leading solar developer and independent power producer. This collaboration marks a significant step in Piramal's long-term decarbonization strategy, which is focused on sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions that enhance energy security while committing to a future with reduced CO₂ emissions.
