Therapist.com Launches: A New Era for Physical and Occupational Therapists

Unveiling Therapist.com: A New Integrated Platform for Therapists

BackTech Inc., headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, has officially launched
Therapist.com, an innovative integrated platform aimed at expanding
the career prospects for physical and occupational therapists in Japan.
With a vision encapsulated by the phrase “Start Your Journey Here for a Therapist’s Lifetime,”
this platform cherishes the journey of therapists from their student days to retirement, aspiring to unlock opportunities at every stage of their careers.

About Therapist.com

Therapist.com positions itself as a one-stop solution for therapists to “learn, connect, and work.” The platform aims to automate and enhance everyday clinical operations through features like AI clinical support and slide creation tools. Moreover, it fosters connections among therapists through a dedicated social networking service (SNS) and community features, thereby promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration across the country.

Initially released as a beta version in June 2025 with an exclusive invitation-only approach, approximately 1,000 therapists utilized the application. According to feedback, 65% expressed that they would be extremely disappointed if the product were to become unavailable, highlighting the significant role it has played in enhancing the careers of many therapists. Notably, this official release marks a significant step as the platform is now free for all users.

Adapting to a Changing Landscape

With around 300,000 physical and occupational therapists in Japan, the industry is at a pivotal juncture. Traditionally, many therapists have operated under public health insurance. However, the sector is now witnessing considerable shifts.

The healthcare sector grappling with chronic workforce shortages and declining profitability under public insurance is now calling for a new skill set, including medical digital transformation (MedDX) skills, particularly centered on utilizing generative AI. Simultaneously, areas outside public health insurance such as preventive medicine and health promotion are witnessing substantial growth. According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the market for health improvement outside public insurance is projected to surge from 18.5 trillion yen in 2020 to 59.9 trillion yen by 2050, representing over three times market expansion.

In light of these changes, therapists are now more than ever required to continuously learn and acquire new skills while forming connections with peers. However, existing platforms have fallen short in providing adequate learning environments, options for career advancement, and networking opportunities amidst societal changes. In response, Therapist.com endeavours to furnish therapists with opportunities for lifelong growth and contribution from their student years until retirement.

Key Features of Therapist.com

1. AI Clinical Support
Leveraging the latest academic research, AI provides evidence-based clinical support, aiding therapists in their daily clinical judgments. Unlike generic AI services, this support prioritizes high-quality and frequently cited academic papers, minimizing the risk of misinformation.

2. AI-Powered Slide Creation
The platform automates the generation of presentation materials for academic conferences and internal training, streamlining the time spent on document preparation and significantly improving presentation quality. The unique functionalities reduce layout issues and enable evidence-based slides to be created without the need for extensive searches.

3. SNS and Community Features
Therapists can freely connect for discussions on clinical challenges, career advice, and novel preventive practices. Additionally, specialized communities are formed around specific domains and interests facilitating deeper learning and ongoing engagement.

Future Developments

The functionalities released today constitute only a fraction of the broader vision BackTech aims to realize. Continued development plans are underway to support therapists' careers throughout their lives, epitomizing the tagline
