In a delightful twist on traditional fare, the renowned station soba chain Shibu-Soba is set to introduce a special limited edition 'Upside-Down Saba Burger' starting August 1, 2026. This unique creation coincides with Japan's 'Sakaba Day' celebrated on August 3, ingeniously titled 'Upside-Down Saba Day' when read backward (8-3 becomes 3-8). The launch, eagerly awaited by fans, will run until August 3 at the original Shibu-Soba location in Shibuya.
The Upside-Down Saba Burger features the popular Saba Croquette, which debuted on March 8, 2026, during 'Saba Day.' Originating from Hidaka in Wakayama, these croquettes are made using saba (mackerel) caught in the Kii Channel. They are marinated in tasty Kishu plum vinegar before being wrapped in Hokkaido’s Danbu potatoes, then turned into delicious croquettes. Their popularity led to an award at the 7th National Croquette Festival held in Ryugasaki, where they were honored with the Mayor’s Award.
For this exciting event, customers can indulge in the following special menu items:
- - Upside-Down Saba Burger: ¥380
- - Upside-Down Saba Burger with Drink & Soba Set: ¥1,090
- - Upside-Down Saba Burger Drink Set: ¥630
- - Upside-Down Saba Burger Craft Beer Set: ¥930
All items will be available exclusively at the Shibu-Soba Shibuya Dogenzaka Branch from August 1st to 3rd, making it a must-visit for burger enthusiasts and soba lovers alike.
In addition to the Upside-Down Saba Burger, the Saba Croquette Soba will be launched simultaneously at 15 Shibu-Soba stores, available for ¥600. The stores included in this promotional event are located in areas such as Nagatsuta, Ikao, Kikuna, Futako-Tamagawa, Aobadai, Chuo-Rinkan, Musashi-Kosugi, Oimachi, Ikebukuro, Azamino, Tsunashima, Ikegami, Mizonokuchi, Tamagawa, and a few select locations selling for ¥650.
