Metro Diner Expands to Columbia, South Carolina
Metro Diner, a popular name in the realm of American dining, has just opened a new location in Columbia, marking its first restaurant in the state's vibrant capital city. This establishment is situated at 106 Percival Road within the Jackson Shopping Center, providing ample space for its guests with 4,350 square feet and seating arrangements for up to 114 patrons indoors, accompanied by an additional 24 seats on the patio.
The newly opened diner is operated by Marcy Miller, who has an impressive history with the brand, having begun as a server in Pineville, North Carolina, before climbing the ranks to management. Miller expressed her enthusiasm about this new venture, saying, "This has been a dream of mine for a long time, and I'm thrilled to offer this community a place that feels like family—where people can gather and enjoy delicious, satisfying meals they can't get anywhere else."
Metro Diner is renowned for its hearty portions and a menu that caters to breakfast, lunch, and dinner enthusiasts alike. Their award-winning offerings showcase a variety of classic comfort foods, featuring staples such as omelets, breakfast platters, barbecue ribs, and specialty burgers crafted from 100% Angus beef.
One of the highlights of their menu gained national attention from the show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" hosted by Guy Fieri, where he praised the Iron City Meatloaf. This dish is griddle-seared to enhance the flavor and served with rich brown gravy, creamy mashed potatoes, and French-style green beans, making it a dish to remember.
Another favorite among patrons is the Fried Chicken Waffle, which features a delectable half fried chicken placed atop a fluffy Belgian waffle, enhanced with strawberry butter and a signature sweet-and-spicy sauce. In addition to these popular dishes, Miller has high praise for the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, describing them as irresistible. "One bite will keep you coming back," she added, highlighting the fluffy pancake filled with a cinnamon swirl, topped with homemade cinnamon butter, cream cheese icing, and candied pecans.
Marcy Miller’s impressive journey with Metro Diner began in Lisbon, Ohio, and she has spent over six years at the brand's Pineville location. Her commitment and growth within the company ultimately led her to open her very own Metro Diner in Columbia. "It's been an incredibly rewarding journey," she stated. "I'm proud to have my name on the door of my very own Metro Diner."
The new Columbia diner is conveniently located near key landmarks such as Fort Jackson, the University of South Carolina, Allen University, and Benedict College, with easy access for locals and visitors alike. It is also located just across from Walmart and Sam's Club, making it a prime dining option in the area.
Metro Diner is open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The dinner service hours will soon extend to 8 p.m., much to the delight of community members who crave classic diner fare at various times of the day.
