Huawei Unveils Next Generation FAN Solution at MWC Barcelona 2026

At the MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei showcased its cutting-edge FAN solution designed for Internet Service Providers (ISPs), under the theme _“AI Transforms ISPs, Leading Growth B2H and B2B”_. This innovative solution leverages artificial intelligence (AI) alongside wholly optical technologies, aiming to empower ISPs worldwide in the smart home ecosystem and enable them to unearth new business potentials.

York Yue, the Vice President of Huawei and CEO of ISP Media Business Unit, kicked off the discussion with a powerful keynote. He stated, _“By 2025, AI will shift from concept to widespread implementation, fundamentally transforming the ISP industry.”_ He elaborated on how AI not only boosts internal automation and operational intelligence but also enhances external B2B services, leading to new monetization strategies. Smart Connectivity for Next-Gen Homes

The rise of smart homes encompasses numerous applications such as cloud gaming, 8K UHD video streaming, and remote conferencing, all demanding heightened speeds, stability, and operational efficiency. Addressing these needs, Huawei's Next Generation FAN solution is designed around AI and features a collaborative architecture that integrates device, edge, and cloud services. This solution offers a comprehensive service system comprising intelligent scheduling, connectivity services, and operational maintenance (OM).

For home connectivity, the FAN solution harnesses Huawei's OptiXstar EG series ONTs, ensuring three essential smart functionalities:

• - Smart Connectivity: Enabling automatic frequency band switching, this functionality offers Wi-Fi 7 speeds exceeding 2,000 Mbps, ensuring comprehensive home coverage while delivering seamless performance for demanding tasks such as cloud gaming and 8K video streaming.
• - Smart Services: The WLAN integrates AI algorithms to accurately gauge indoor conditions, enhancing home security.
• - Smart Operations and Maintenance: With self-diagnostic and self-optimizing features, devices can automatically detect and rectify faults, promoting smoother and more efficient network performance.

To recognize home services accurately, the FAN solution utilizes Huawei’s MA5800T series OLTs with AI-based traffic management, which offers dedicated network pathways for diverse smart services, complete with customized SLA guarantees. This enables reliable performance across health, entertainment, and remote meeting applications, thus enhancing the smart home experience.

The deep-seated integration of AI within communication networks stands as a pivotal driver for innovation and industrial advancement. Huang Dachuan, Chief Technology Officer at Huawei’s ICT Solutions Marketing and Sales Department, shared insights on the significant impact of AI on ISP services, asserting, _“AI is revolutionizing the ISP industry and stimulating growth in both B2H and B2B services.”_ He projected that AI terminals would become commonplace by 2030, facilitating cost savings and operational efficiencies for businesses, while resilient smart networks would significantly enhance user experiences.

Huang outlined Huawei's adoption of a smart-oriented network architecture for ISPs, merging cloud data centers with AI, optical access, and IP transport capabilities through advanced technologies like Data Center Optical Cross Connects (DC-OXC), Segment Routing over IPv6 (SRv6), and Optical Cross Connects (OXC). This architecture supports scenarios such as family healthcare management, smart homes, and intelligent OM, aiding customers in achieving solid service transformations.
