Unseenlabs Launches Advanced Generation 2 Satellites for Multidomain RF Detection

Unseenlabs Unveils Second Generation Satellites

In an exciting development for the field of RF detection and intelligence, Unseenlabs has announced the deployment of its second generation of satellites, known as Gen 2. This new capability significantly expands their existing technology initially focused on maritime domains to now cover a wider range of surveillance across maritime, terrestrial, and space environments.

The launch of the first satellite of this generation, named BRO-31, took place aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX at the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. This satellite represents a notable technological advancement for Unseenlabs, transitioning from nanosatellites weighing approximately 15 kg to more robust microsatellites weighing around 150 kg. Leveraging nearly a decade of operational experience, the Gen 2 satellites are designed to operate independently, maintaining the original concept that made Unseenlabs a pioneer in RF detection from space.

Clement Galic, co-founder and CEO of Unseenlabs, commented on the capabilities of the new satellites, saying, "Our second generation satellites vastly expand our RF detection capabilities in depth and range. They allow us to detect, geolocate, and monitor a broader spectrum of activities across maritime, terrestrial, and spatial domains. This creates opportunities for new strategic use cases while enhancing our support for customers in commerce, security, and defense sectors."

The second generation satellites are capable of detecting a wider frequency range, including L, S, C, X, and Ku bands, thereby facilitating dual-use applications for electromagnetic intelligence that can serve both civil and defense purposes. Potential applications include enhanced maritime surveillance, spectrum monitoring, interference mitigation, and oversight of defense systems.

As a leader in the commercial RF space services sector, Unseenlabs is committed to improving its capabilities for detecting, geolocating, characterizing, and identifying RF activities across various domains. Founded in 2015, the company has successfully operated 23 satellites and continues to expand its constellation. Headquartered in France, with additional offices in Singapore and the US, Unseenlabs serves a diverse clientele, including governments, public institutions, and private entities worldwide.

This leap in technology not only marks a pivotal point for Unseenlabs but also opens new frontiers for intelligence gathering and operational decision-making in an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape. The Gen 2 satellites stand as a significant step forward in the realm of RF detection, promising to deliver actionable insights for various industries.
