Discover the Unique Cocktail 'THE CONNECTION' at Hotel Grand Bach Tokyo Ginza

A Unique Blend of Tradition and Innovation: 'THE CONNECTION'

Hotel Grand Bach Tokyo Ginza, located in the heart of Ginza, is set to unveil its original cocktail, "THE CONNECTION," starting on November 7, 2025. This unique creation, crafted with care, beautifully merges matcha with innovative mixology, capturing the essence of both Japanese and Western influences.

The mastermind behind the cocktail, head bartender Tsukasa Takahashi, was inspired by a remarkable connection between two historical figures who shaped culture in the 18th century. J.S. Bach, known as the father of music, lived and composed in Leipzig, Germany, passing away in 1750. Coincidentally, it was also the year when Tsutaya Jūzaburō, a pivotal figure in Edo’s artistic publishing culture, was born. This intertwined history, along with the hotel's location—once home to the residence of Tanuma Okitsugu, a close friend of Jūzaburō—served as the fertile ground for Takahashi's creativity.

The cocktail features a two-layered structure with matcha as the star ingredient. The upper layer, a vibrant deep green, is made using "CUZEN MATCHA," a product crafted from organic tea leaves that offers a fresh and intense flavor profile usually hard to achieve. Complementing this layer is protein from the renowned German company Zeitunbach, creating a refined and harmonious blend.

Transitioning to the lower layer, an elegant rose color, it consists of the Kyoto-based prestige gin "Kino Bi Kyoto Dry Gin" and plum liqueur "Kino Ume." These ingredients reflect the deep appreciation for nature found in the Kanō school of painting, which originated in Kyoto. Adorned with a delicate wafer paper featuring a reproduction of the masterpiece "Old Plum Picture Fusuma" by Kanosan Setsu, the cocktail serves as a visual homage to rebirth and the unique connection between Bach and Jūzaburō.

Experience this creative drink that fuses Eastern and Western aesthetics, inviting you to a momentous taste journey that transcends time.
