Temu Enhances Intellectual Property Protections with New IACC Membership and Strategic Partnerships
Temu Takes Bold Step in Intellectual Property Protection
Temu, a pioneering global online marketplace, has recently joined the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC), marking a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to safeguard intellectual property (IP) rights. This development is part of Temu's broader initiative to reinforce its IP protection strategies, which has seen considerable growth since its launch in 2022.
Joining Forces Against Counterfeiting
As a new General Member of the IACC, Temu enters a vast network comprised of over 250 companies and organizations across more than 40 countries. These collaborative efforts focus on combating counterfeiting and piracy—issues that pose substantial threats to brands and consumer trust alike. A spokesperson from Temu emphasized, "Protecting intellectual property is essential when building a marketplace that consumers and brands can trust. Joining the IACC reflects our ongoing commitment to IP protection, and we look forward to constructive collaboration with industry peers and stakeholders."
Not only does this membership symbolize Temu's dedication to IP issues, but it also enhances their existing partnerships and collaboration avenues. Bob Barchiesi, President of the IACC, expressed, "We’re pleased to welcome Temu as a member of the IACC and its continued efforts in intellectual property protection. Addressing counterfeiting requires coordinated, cross-industry action. The IACC brings stakeholders together to align efforts and share best practices. We look forward to Temu’s active participation in our network as we continue advancing a safer and more trusted online ecosystem worldwide."
Strengthening Collaborative Efforts
This entry into the IACC is a continuation of Temu's prior engagement with the organization. In May 2025, the company had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the IACC and joined its Marketplace Advisory Council (MAC) as an inaugural member. The MAC serves as a cross-industry forum that includes a variety of participants such as online marketplaces, payment providers, and global brands, striving for enhanced best practices and cooperative enforcement techniques.
In its commitment to enforcing IP rights, Temu has developed an advanced enforcement system operational at every level of its platform. This multi-layered approach includes seller vetting, pre-listing screening, and continuous post-listing monitoring. Their proactive database reportedly manages oversight for over 6,700 brands, leveraging a staggering array of more than 38 million images and 9 million keywords. Impressively, over 99.9% of takedown requests are resolved within three business days, with the average resolution time being less than one business day.
Enhancing Brand Protection Through Innovation
Furthermore, Temu launched its Brand Guardian Initiative in April 2024, which directly collaborates with over 1,500 brands—offering tailored enforcement tools, personalized support, and valuable data insights regarding enforcement trends. This initiative underscores Temu's commitment to fostering a secure shopping environment for both consumers and brands alike.
A Vision for the Future
Looking forward, Temu aims to amplify its efforts to enhance consumer confidence and satisfaction within the online shopping ecosystem. Operating across more than 90 markets globally, Temu is dedicated to providing affordable, premium-quality products that enrich customers' lives. As it embraces memberships like the IACC and fosters tight-knit industry partnerships, Temu is strategically positioning itself as a leading force against counterfeiting and for consumer protection in e-commerce.
Ultimately, Temu's latest moves reflect an unwavering dedication to ensuring a trustworthy marketplace that shields both brands and consumers from the challenges of counterfeiting and fraud, proving that the protection of intellectual property rights remains a top priority as the digital landscape continues to evolve.
