A Divine Union: The Art of Japanese Sake and Katana in Limited Edition Collaboration

In a remarkable partnership, Marui Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Sekiya Brewing Co. and the Tokugawa Art Museum, is set to unveil a limited-edition Junmai Daiginjo sake called ‘Hōraisen x Tokubigumi’ on June 13, 2025, to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the museum. This distinctive sake embodies the rich, nuanced flavors of Japanese culture, inviting enthusiasts to experience the historical legacy of the Tokugawa dynasty alongside a modern expression.

Celebrating Craftsmanship

The Tokugawa Art Museum, recognized for its extensive collection of over 10,000 pieces dating back to the Edo period, houses treasures passed down from the Tokugawa lineage. Among its prized possessions are six renowned swords collectively known as 'Tokubigumi,' each symbolizing martial prowess and artistic beauty. This collaboration recognizes both the museum's impressive heritage and its dedication to preserving Japanese traditions.

To mark the museum’s 90th anniversary, Sekiya Brewing Co., established in 1864, is taking part in this celebration with a locally crafted sake that utilizes 'Yume Sansui,' a sake rice perfected in the region. The ‘Hōraisen Junmai Daiginjo’ features a lower alcohol content of 14%, allowing drinkers to savor a light, wine-like experience while indulging in the deep, sophisticated umami unique to high-quality sake.

A Unique Taste Profile

The resulting flavor profile from this collaboration is one that captivates the palate. Upon the first sip, a chic aroma reminiscent of pears fills the air, marrying crispness with a smooth, well-balanced acidity. This exquisite harmony ensures each taste is enriched with layers of fragrance and flavor, creating a sophisticated and refined experience fit for both sake lovers and newcomers alike.

Artisanal Packaging

The sake's distinctive label features illustrations of the six prestigious swords of the 'Tokubigumi,' celebrating the marriage of traditional sake aesthetics with the elegant splendor of Japanese sword-making. The black label adorned with gold foil accents provides a fitting tribute to the 90th anniversary. To enhance the experience, a limited-edition sake cup accompanies the purchase, encouraging consumers to celebrate life’s finest moments.

Miniature Charm Included

Each order of 'Hōraisen x Tokubigumi Junmai Daiginjo' is packaged with a special logo-enhanced box and includes a miniature bottle charm, replicating the original sake bottle in a delightful miniature size, ideal for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
