Gastops FluidSIGHT™ Chosen for Canadian Navy Testing Under ISC Program
Gastops FluidSIGHT™ Selected for Canadian Navy Evaluation
Canadian company Gastops, known for its cutting-edge condition monitoring technology, has recently secured a significant contract under the Government of Canada's Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC) Testing Stream program. This marks a key initiative aimed at enhancing maintenance capabilities within the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) through the application of state-of-the-art technology.
Evolution of Maintenance Practices
Gastops will collaborate closely with the Department of National Defence (DND) to deploy and evaluate its FluidSIGHT™ system. This innovative real-time monitoring solution is designed to keep track of oil condition, contamination levels, and wear within equipment, offering a detailed perspective on lubricant health that goes beyond traditional methods of maintenance which often rely on periodic sampling and laboratory testing.
The transition towards condition-based and predictive maintenance promises to significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of naval operations, directly addressing DND's goal of making data-driven decisions to enhance operational readiness and equipment availability.
Project Details
Under the contract, Gastops is set to provide a comprehensive package that includes the FluidSIGHT™ systems, software, technician training, installation support, and ongoing technical expertise for evaluation purposes. The testing is scheduled to occur in a variety of environments, including both laboratory settings in Ottawa and Montreal, as well as on marine vessels operating within Atlantic Canada.
This undertaking represents a critical milestone for FluidSIGHT™, especially following its recent market introduction earlier this year. Throughout the project, the technology’s effectiveness at accurately monitoring lubricant health and delivering real-time insights will be closely examined.
A Step Toward Smart Maintenance
The significance of this initiative is underscored by comments from Gastops’s leadership. Shaun Horning, the President and CEO, stated, "This project represents the next step in FluidSIGHT's evolution from innovation to real-world application." Horning elaborated on how Gastops has consistently supported maintenance teams through advanced equipment health intelligence since 1979.
Furthermore, Brennan West, Vice President of Energy, Marine & Land at Gastops, emphasized the importance of transforming data into actionable insights. He remarked that although maintenance teams have unprecedented access to data, the focus should be on converting this information into meaningful improvements in equipment management.
West noted, "FluidSIGHT provides real-time visibility into equipment condition, helping maintainers identify issues earlier and thereby enhancing equipment readiness and availability."
Upcoming Exhibition at DEFSEC Atlantic 2026
In line with these advancements, Gastops will showcase its technologies, including FluidSIGHT™, at the DEFSEC Atlantic 2026 conference, taking place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from October 6 to 8. Those attending the event will have an opportunity to engage with the Gastops team and learn more about their innovative contributions to equipment health intelligence and predictive maintenance.
