Chubb Group Strengthens Digital Leadership Team
Chubb Limited has made significant strides to bolster its digital business capabilities by announcing new leadership appointments within its Digital Business organization. This follows the recent appointment of Sean Ringsted as the Chief Scientist and Executive Vice President of Chubb Group.
Effective immediately, Johan Oosthuizen takes on the role of Global Head of Digital Business. He now holds the executive responsibility for the entire digital business globally, overseeing partnership acquisitions, performance metrics, and the deployment of approved products. Oosthuizen has a credible background in digital transformation, having previously served as Chubb's Global Digital Chief Technology Officer, where he led the company's significant technology strategy. His extensive experience, spanning more than 20 years, places him in an ideal position to lead the company’s digital efforts aimed at growth.
In his new role, Johan will work under the guidance of Paul McNamee, President of Overseas General Insurance, as well as Bryce Johns, President of Chubb Life, to drive life-related production strategies. Sean Ringsted expressed confidence in Oosthuizen’s capabilities, noting that his unique blend of technical proficiency and business acumen will be instrumental as Chubb transitions into the next phase of its digital business expansion.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Lazaro has been appointed as Global Head of Digital Growth and Strategic Consumer Partnerships. Lazaro’s role involves managing Chubb's partnership relationships alongside a unified vision for growth across various digital platforms and technology sectors. His mission includes uncovering fresh growth avenues while revitalizing existing partnerships in both Property & Casualty (PC) and Life sectors. Reporting to both Paul McNamee and Johan Oosthuizen, Gabriel will leverage his collaborative approach to strengthen relationships and ensure that Chubb meets the evolving needs of its customers.
Gabriel’s career at Chubb began in 2016, where he initially served as Head of Digital for Latin America. Due to his outstanding performance, he ascended to the position of Executive Vice President, overseeing Digital Business for Overseas General Insurance in 2021. Gabriel’s prior experience at AIG in various international digital roles further solidifies his expertise in building robust relationships within the digital landscape.
Both appointments underscore Chubb’s commitment to enhancing its digital business and the importance it places on its partnership ecosystem. The strategic leadership changes reflect an intention to not just keep pace with the rapid evolution in the insurance industry, but to lead with innovation and insight.
