On May 31, the Nichibei Conversation Institute in Shinjuku, Tokyo, will host a special presentation by the esteemed English language educator, Professor Ken Toyama, as part of its 80th-anniversary activities. Starting at 10:30 AM, this event promises to be an enlightening experience for attendees looking to enhance their English pronunciation skills.

The lecture, which focuses on "Improving English Pronunciation Techniques Not Taught in Class - schwa", will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and online participation. The in-person setting has a capacity of 30 participants, while the online session is open for up to 50. Registration for the event opens on April 15 at 1 PM on a first-come-first-served basis, and as usual, the online attendance will be free of charge. Professor Ken Toyama, originally from Hokkaido, holds a degree from the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and has completed a master's program in English Language Teaching at Temple University Japan. He has a rich history in the field, having served as head of the English department at Kanda Institute of Foreign Languages, lecturer for NHK programs such as "One Million English" and “English Conversation Introduction”, as well as an associate professor at Toyo Eiwa University. Furthering his credentials, he has been a visiting professor at Temple University Japan Campus, focusing on intercultural exchange, and is also a lecturer for the Executive Management Program at the University of Tokyo. Currently, he heads COMUNICA, Inc.

Professor Toyama's notable works include publications such as "NHK Radio English Conversation Introduction: The Tale of the Weaving Girl", "Challenging Rapid Listening! English Commercials and Announcements", along with various other books published by NHK.

The event's proceedings will be led by a special guest moderator, Professor Sugi Takashi, who is a seasoned instructor at Nichibei Conversation Institute. He has been conducting courses like “Modern Business English with Takashi Sugita” and “Reading English Newspapers with Takashi Sugita”.
