Open House Nagoya Partners with Nagoya Gakuin University
On October 24, 2025, Open House Nagoya, a subsidiary of Open House Group based in Tokyo, together with Nagoya Gakuin University, unveiled the results of their collaboration on the Nagoya Outstanding Young Person (NOYP) Award. This initiative was organized in conjunction with the Nagoya Junior Chamber of Commerce, under the leadership of the 2025 committee head, Ryo Hamawaki.
Project Background
This project was part of Professor Kiyoshi Mizuno’s “Project Practice” course at Nagoya Gakuin University. It allowed students to take the lead in analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the NOYP Award while proposing effective improvements. One of the most significant insights gathered from the students was the perception that the award's name could deter potential participants from applying or voting. The students concluded that a more engaging and accessible name, along with an attractive logo and mascot, could enhance participation.
Key Findings
The students actively brainstormed new names and designs for the award, utilizing online surveys to solicit feedback from the community. Their collaborative efforts confirmed that the new branding could significantly increase the award's recognition and application rates in future editions. The findings were presented at the award ceremony, showcasing the hard work and commitment of the students.
Student Reflections
Participants expressed that they had never had the opportunity to work closely with business leaders or members of the Junior Chamber before, which made each meeting feel fresh and exciting. They noted that challenging the established norms of the Junior Chamber required courage, but addressing a crowd during the award ceremony allowed them to share their ideas and experiences. The collaborative discussions fostered a sense of attachment and passion for the event.
