Mercy Appoints Dan Ensell as New Senior VP of Mission Integration

Mercy Health has recently announced the appointment of Dan Ensell as their senior vice president of mission integration, placing him in a pivotal role to guide the organization's mission. Ensell, who has been with Mercy since 2021, previously served as the director of mission integration at Mercy St. Louis.

In his new position, Ensell aims to reinforce the foundational principles that guide Mercy's healthcare services. With a commitment that resonates deeply within the organizational culture, he emphasizes that the mission is integral to every facet of care provided to patients and how caregivers support one another. Ensell remarked, "At Mercy, our mission is the foundation of everything we do. It reflects in the care we provide to our patients, in how we support one another as caregivers, and in the way we speak about our work. With over 15 years of experience in Catholic leadership within the healthcare and educational sectors, Ensell is well-equipped to lead Mercy’s expansive healthcare community of more than 50,000 caregivers across five states. He succeeds Kevin Minder, who retired after over a decade of dedicated service. Steve Mackin, Mercy's president and CEO, commended Ensell by stating, "Dan understands who we are, and he leads with purpose and compassion. As we enter our third century of care, he will help us stay true to our mission as we continue to serve our communities, especially those who are most in need."

Ensell holds a bachelor’s degree in theology from Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky, and has pursued advanced studies, earning master’s degrees in religious education from Fordham University, New York, and educational leadership from the University of West Florida. Furthermore, he actively contributes to the Catholic Health Association's mission advisory council and offers theological insights as an adjunct facilitator for the University of Notre Dame's STEP program.
