Cartus Leads the Way in Global Talent Mobility with Validated Net-Zero Targets
In a significant achievement for corporate sustainability, Cartus Corporation, a leader in global talent mobility, has officially become the first major company in its field to have its greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). This validation confirms that Cartus' environmental goals align with cutting-edge climate science, particularly the Paris Agreement's aim of limiting global warming to below 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Commitment to Climate Action
On January 15, 2026, Cartus announced the validation of its net-zero targets, which cover both near-term and long-term GHG reductions. David Pascoe, Executive Senior Vice President and Head of Global Talent Mobility at Cartus, emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating, "When we joined SBTi in 2023, we made a promise to lead with action. Today, that promise has been realized. Validation by SBTi demonstrates that our targets are not just aspirational—they are science-based, measurable, and aligned with what the planet needs."
Details of the GHG Reduction Targets
The SBTi validation includes Cartus' ambitious targets as follows:
- A commitment to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by
63% by 2035.
- A commitment to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions per employee relocated by
67% by 2035.
- A commitment to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by
90% by 2050.
- A commitment to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions per employee relocated by
97% by 2050.
According to Cartus, the majority of its emissions arise from scope 3, which includes emissions associated with the company's operations outside of its direct control. This is why the company has adopted a specific focus on reducing emission intensity related to each corporate relocation it manages, aiming to diminish the environmental impact of these relocations.
Supporting Partners and Clients
Organizations look for partners who share their commitment to environmental sustainability, and Cartus aims to deliver on this expectation. The SBTi validation signifies yet another pivotal moment in Cartus' ongoing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) journey, alongside initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, engaging suppliers, and providing innovative solutions that support clients’ sustainability objectives.
With over 80,000 relocations managed annually, Cartus is uniquely positioned to drive measurable climate actions across various industries and geographical regions. Its leadership in global relocation demonstrates a commitment not just to the company’s success, but also to the well-being of the planet.
