Sekisui Chemical Engages in Urban Development Project in Tsukuba Mirai City

On May 29, 2026, Sekisui Chemical's Housing Company, led by President Masahide Yoshida, signed a business delegation agreement with the Mirai Hill East District Development Association. This organization was established by landowners and completed its formation in March 2026. Through this contract, Sekisui officially joins the efforts of the district development project, which is promoted by Tsukuba Mirai City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The project involves collaboration among three companies, including Ohmoto Corporation, led by President Keiichi Miyake, and Daiwa Surveying Co., Ltd, headed by President Yoshitomo Morohashi.

The endeavor is part of Sekisui Chemical's push for ESG management, where the goal is to harmonize customer and business values. The company has launched the "SEKISUI Safe & Sound Project," aiming to transform urban areas through the collective technological strengths of the Sekisui group.

In Tsukuba Mirai City, the urban development is designed according to the Urban Planning Master Plan, targeting district areas around Mirai Hill Station and Inahigashi City, utilizing local characteristics to create an urban living region. This initiative responds to the anticipated population growth and living requirements around Mirai Hill Station, ensuring planned urban area development through district reorganization projects.

The Mirai Hill East District Development Project encompasses an area of approximately 19.1 hectares. It focuses on structural improvements, including the construction of block roads, pedestrian-only paths, parks, and other essential urban infrastructure, while also paying attention to harmonize with the natural environment. The overarching objective is to establish a desirable and spacious residential community.

In this project, Sekisui Chemical aims to leverage its technological expertise in creating resilient infrastructure capable of withstanding disasters, along with implementing IoT technologies for urban planning. The company will focus on developing single-family homes to ensure a safe and secure living environment for residents of all generations, while also considering the placement of commercial facilities to enhance the convenience of local residents—creating a multifaceted urban space.

Looking ahead, Sekisui intends to collaborate closely with stakeholders to advance this project, aiming to begin land development works in April 2027.
