Big Tigger and Atlanta Beltline Unite for Health Equity at BikeFest 2025

Big Tigger and the Atlanta Beltline Join Forces for Health Equity at the 3rd Annual BikeFest

Entertainment icon Big Tigger is once again championing a cause dear to his heart—health equity. On June 14, 2025, the highly anticipated third annual Big Tigger's Beltline BikeFest will take place at the Atlanta Beltline's Southwest Trail. This event is not just a bike ride; it's a celebration of community, culture, and health awareness, leveraging one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the nation to foster connection among attendees.

The BikeFest, a free family-focused celebration, includes a celebrity-led community ride, engaging live musical performances, wellness screenings, and a vendor market. Among the highlights, the standout feature is the giveaway of 200 bikes and helmets to local youth through Tigger’s nonprofit organization, the Big Tigger Foundation. This initiative adds immense value to the event, aligning perfectly with its mission of youth empowerment.

"BikeFest transcends the typical cycling event. It encapsulates community and culture and serves as a tremendous vehicle for uplifting our youth," says Tigger, who also hosts The Big Tigger Morning Show on V-103 in Atlanta and acts as an in-arena host for the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks. He further emphasizes the joy of seeing kids engage actively with the event, particularly as summer approaches, providing them safe and healthy outlets for engagement.

A Ride with a Purpose

Hosted in the historic West End community, BikeFest embodies the Atlanta Beltline's original mission—a civic project built by the people and for the people. The event employs cycling as a means to confront prevailing health disparities, notably in communities where chronic illness and lack of physical activity are all too common. Regular cycling is known to support memory, learning, and mental wellness in children, yet the accessibility of bicycles has diminished over the last decade.

Tigger passionately addresses this issue, advocating for community physical activity as a pathway to longevity and productivity, not just for individuals but for future generations. He believes it is vital for Atlanta to view the Beltline as a resource promoting these goals.

Reflecting on the inception of BikeFest, Tigger recalls pitching the idea to the Beltline during the pandemic after reigniting his own passion for cycling. Clyde Higgs, president and CEO of Atlanta Beltline, Inc., shared his enthusiasm:

"When Tigger introduced the concept of BikeFest, we were more than ready to elevate it. The Beltline is precisely a space for cultivating ideas, fostering collaboration, and promoting accessibility and inclusivity throughout our community. Activations such as BikeFest help us fulfill this promise. Tigger's vision brilliantly amalgamates all the elements that define the greatness of our city."
