i-Reporter Enhances Functionality with Time Display Feature to Optimize Date Management

i-Reporter's New Time Display Feature

Introduction

Simtops Corporation, based in Shinagawa, Tokyo, has announced an exciting enhancement to its field reporting system, i-Reporter. This update incorporates a time display feature into both the date and calendar date clusters. This innovation simplifies the process of managing and coordinating date and time information within a single cluster, thus reducing the workload associated with BI tool integration and cluster configuration.

Background and Challenges

Prior to this update, users had to manage date and time entries separately. This necessitated the use of both the date cluster and time cluster, leading to various challenges:

1. Configuration Complexity: Users were required to set up and manage two distinct clusters, increasing the risk of errors and the time needed for configuration.
2. Data Processing Load: Creating Gantt charts and other visual representations using external BI tools required additional data formatting, making the process tedious.
3. Industry-Specific Needs: Certain industries, such as food labeling, necessitated the inclusion of time data alongside dates, further complicating data management.

Customer Feedback

The feedback from actual users highlighted significant pain points:

  • - “It's cumbersome to manage two separate clusters; I wish they could be combined.”
  • - “When using Gantt charts with Motion Board, the need for data processing increases our workload.”

Features of the New Functionality

This update introduces several key features designed to enhance user experience:

1. Integration of Time Display: The date and calendar date clusters now include a time display option, allowing users to manage entries in formats like '2024/12/15 14:30:25' within a single cluster.
2. Flexible Time Settings: Users can easily toggle the time display on or off. Supported formats include HH:mm, HH:mm:ss, H:m, and more. Existing users can continue using the clusters without disruption unless they decide to modify their settings.
3. Streamlined BI Tool Integration: With the integration of time settings, data linked to BI tools like Motion Board utilizes a 'timestamp' data type. If the time settings are activated, the timestamp will automatically reflect in any connected applications, eliminating the need for extensive data linkage when creating Gantt charts.

Setting Up the New Features

Users can configure these new settings within the ConMas Designer, specifically for the date and calendar date cluster types.

Operating System Compatibility

This update is compatible with both iOS and Windows versions of the i-Reporter system.

Version Limitations

It’s important to note that this functionality is exclusive to the latest version of ConMas Designer. Previous versions will not be able to access date clusters that include time settings, so updating is essential.

Future Goals

Simtops is committed to addressing the challenges faced by users through i-Reporter, aiming to support significant business process improvements. The company appreciates continued user support as they strive for operational excellence.
