First CVC Community Innovation Hub 'JAPAN CVC BASECAMP' to Launch in June 2026

Introduction

On January 1, 2026, Japan will witness the grand opening of the country's first dedicated innovation hub for CVC (Corporate Venture Capital) communities, aptly named the JAPAN CVC BASECAMP. Operated by FIRST CVC, a leading player in the CVC community arena, this facility will be strategically located on the 41st floor of the TOFROM YAESU TOWER, just a stone's throw away from Tokyo Station. This groundbreaking initiative aims to address the challenges faced by corporate venture capital arms while fostering collaboration with startups.

Facility Overview

Located in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, JAPAN CVC BASECAMP will officially begin its operations on June 1, 2026, following a pre-opening on April 1, 2026. The hub will offer various features designed to facilitate innovation, including:
  • - AI business matching services
  • - Joint pitch events for VC companies
  • - Dedicated workspaces
  • - Comfortable lounge areas
All of these will come at a monthly fee starting from 100,000 JPY, with various plans available to cater to different needs.

Addressing CVC Challenges

JAPAN CVC BASECAMP recognizes the unique challenges that CVCs face, especially in the areas of knowledge accumulation, startup selection, and networking disruptions due to personnel changes. The hub plans to provide four key offerings:
1. Case Sharing Meetings (CASE): A platform for sharing insights on investment decision-making processes across various CVCs.
2. Practical Programs (DOJO): Workshops that focus on skill acquisition related to investments, mergers and acquisitions, and new business development.
3. Industry-Specific Forums (FORUM): Events organized approximately 30 times a year to discuss industry challenges and promote collaboration among different CVCs, regardless of sector.
4. Individual Meetings (MATCHING DAY): Using the AI-powered platform CATALYST to generate opportunities for meetings with suitable startups.

AI Matching Platform - CATALYST

The centerpiece of the JAPAN CVC BASECAMP will be the CATALYST, a unique AI matching platform developed by FIRST CVC. Members will have streamlined access to search for startups, evaluate them using AI, request meetings, and create internal review documents in PPTX/Excel formats. This solution will revolutionize the typically lengthy processes involved in startup investigation and documentation, thereby significantly accelerating the pace of open innovation.

Kickoff Event 'CVC VS 2026'

Prior to its official launch, the JAPAN CVC BASECAMP will host a kickoff event named CVC VS 2026 on May 27, 2026. This event is expected to gather over 1,200 participants, including CVCs, VCs, and startups, at the Tokyo Tatemono Pia Theatre & Conference on the 6th floor of the TOFROM YAESU TOWER.
The event will showcase keynote sessions led by prominent figures such as Minister Sōichirō Imaeda, engaging in discussions on the evolving landscape surrounding CVCs and the future of Japan's open innovation. A networking segment later in the day will provide an opportunity for attendees to connect, making it a lively and enriching experience.
