Social Contribution Initiative 'Vita One Smile' Launched by Japan Pet Food to Support Pets and Their Owners

Bringing Smiles to Pets and Their Families

The relationship between pets and humans has evolved significantly over time. Pets are no longer just animals; they are beloved family members whose lives are intertwined with ours. Yet, along with this positive change, serious issues persist regarding pet ownership. Problems such as abandonment, hoarding, and challenging situations in emergency evacuations continue to affect many animals, raising concerns over their well-being.

As opportunities for children to interact with animals decrease, they are missing important lessons about the value of life and compassion. In response to these ongoing challenges, Japan Pet Food has unveiled the 'Vita One Smile' initiative—a social contribution program aiming to address these pressing and multifaceted matters.

Motivation Behind 'Vita One Smile'

Since its founding, Japan Pet Food has adhered to a philosophy of enhancing the lives of families and their pets through quality pet food. Our mission has always been to support the health of pets living in Japan. Now, however, our focus extends beyond simply delivering products. We recognize that it is crucial to engage with the hardships faced by animals in various circumstances and work to safeguard their precious lives. The joy that comes from the bond between pets and their owners, nurtured through these interactions, serves as a catalyst for our efforts, inspiring the creation of our pet food.

On April 1, the birthday of our beloved brand 'Vita One', we officially launched the 'Vita One Smile' activities, embarking on a mission to envision a future where all pets can live happily and safely.

Upcoming Initiatives

In alignment with the ideology of the 'Vita One Smile' initiative, we are rolling out several activities designed to support the welfare of animals and educate the public on responsible pet ownership:

1. Supporting Adoption of Rescue Animals

We are partnering with the Shizuoka Prefectural Animal Protection Center, known as 'Shippo no Baton', to facilitate the adoption of rescued dogs and cats. Our efforts will include providing food, brochures, and samples to assist in creating long-term homes for these vulnerable animals.

2. Learning About Pet Care

To promote harmonious cohabitation between people and their pets, we will sponsor 'Living Together' workshops and organize various events, including disaster preparedness seminars to prepare pet owners for emergencies.

3. Cultivating Respect for Life

We are committed to raising awareness among children about the joys of living with pets and fostering an appreciation for life through educational initiatives.

New Developments at 'Shippo no Baton'

In conjunction with the 'Vita One Smile' initiative, we have also acquired the naming rights for the interaction area within the Shizuoka Prefectural Animal Protection Center, officially naming it 'Vita One Interaction Area'. As part of this endeavor, we've renovated the facility to create a welcoming atmosphere where visitors can engage with rescued animals comfortably. Decorations include our official mascots, 'Vita One-kun' and 'Mio-chan', designed to appeal to audiences of all ages while imparting important messages regarding animal welfare in an enjoyable manner.

A Fresh Take on 'Vita One'

In line with the launch of the 'Vita One Smile' initiative, we are reintroducing the 'Vita One' brand, which has been a staple for over 60 years. This new range includes a 'Balanced Nutritional Dog Food' that draws inspiration from the food culture of Japan, focusing on long-term health benefits. With over 20 natural ingredients carefully balanced based on the essential nutrients and dietary preferences of dogs, we are proud to present an original recipe that caters to contemporary needs.

The new packaging will also highlight our commitment to the 'Vita One Smile' initiative, with a portion of sales supporting these vital activities.
