Aqua Clara Launches Eco-Friendly Bottles Made from Recycled Materials for a Sustainable Future

Aqua Clara's Commitment to Sustainability

Aqua Clara, based in Minato, Tokyo, is making strides in environmental sustainability with their latest innovation: a new line of water bottles manufactured from recycled materials. Starting in July, these bottles will feature polycarbonate handles made from waste generated during their production processes. This initiative not only aims to reduce environmental impact but also to promote resource circulation within the community.

The company believes in connecting people through trust while providing reliable water solutions that support a sustainable future. The new bottle design utilizes waste materials that do not meet the standards for bottle manufacturing, repurposing these items as handles. This innovative approach is expected to significantly reduce waste and enhance resource utilization, ultimately contributing to a circular economy.

Transition to Sustainable Bottles

Aqua Clara plans to gradually transition from their existing bottles to the new eco-friendly versions, targeting complete implementation within six years. By unifying the material for both the bottle body and the handle, both made of polycarbonate, they will simplify the sorting and recycling processes, further ensuring efficient resource circulation. This initiative marks a first in Japan's home delivery water industry, making Aqua Clara a pioneering force in eco-conscious practices.

Background of the Initiative

Aqua Clara's vision centers on empowering individuals, offering locally rooted services, and fostering a society that values the environment. Their commitment to reducing local environmental burdens aligns with global goals like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The new bottle initiative, driven by the question of how they can contribute to a sustainable future, exemplifies Aqua Clara's dedication to responsible resource management.

A trial run of the new bottles will begin in fall 2025 across various plants in Sendai, Nagoya, Gifu, Fukuoka, and Kitakyushu to assess their effectiveness before a nationwide rollout. Each new bottle will feature Aqua Clara’s distinctive branding, helping to raise awareness of their resource-circulation efforts.
