BIG3 Detroit Amps Training Camp at Wayne State University

The Detroit Amplifiers are gearing up for an exciting inaugural season of the BIG3 basketball league, and they’re set to host their final training camp at Wayne State University from June 9 to June 12, 2025. This partnership highlights the team’s dedication to providing its players with exceptional resources for training, ensuring they are at their best as they prepare for a highly anticipated season.

Hall of Famer George Gervin, who presides as head coach, expressed his enthusiasm for the facilities at Wayne State, stating, "Our players deserve to experience first-class facilities, and Wayne State offers our team elite amenities with everything they need." From state-of-the-art courts to comprehensive recovery rooms, the university promises the kind of support that can help the Amps strive for victory.

Keith J. Stone, chairman and co-founder of GameAbove Sports, echoed Gervin's sentiments about the partnership with Wayne State. He noted, "The city of Detroit has always been synonymous with basketball. It remains an integral part of the fabric of the city." This deep-rooted love for basketball in Detroit is part of what has drawn the BIG3 league to the city, promising a thrilling atmosphere for players and fans alike.

Excitement is building as the team prepares to kick off the eighth season of the BIG3 league, starting in Chicago on June 14, followed by their inaugural game at Little Caesars Arena on July 20. The roster boasts an impressive lineup, featuring co-captain Joe Johnson, a seasoned NBA veteran and seven-time all-star, who made significant waves when he joined the BIG3 in 2019 by setting the league’s scoring record and bagging three MVP awards since then.

Alongside Johnson, co-captain Jeremy Pargo is another key player to watch, having made headlines last season by breaking the BIG3 four-point record. The team also includes Darnell Jackson, a former Kansas national champion, and standout Ray Nixon, the league's top three-point shooter last season, alongside up-and-coming player Shakur Juiston.

The Detroit Amps are not alone in their debut; they are joined by seven other franchises, including teams from cities like Boston, Chicago, Dallas, and Miami. Ice Cube, the founder of the BIG3, shared the importance of these new franchises, stating, "These cities have shown up for us year after year, and we are honored to represent and reward those fans with a new franchise of their own. The basketball energy in these cities is unmatched."

This season marks a refreshing change for the league, which previously operated under a centralized ownership model. With new teams and individualized player rosters, fans can expect unique matchups and thrilling competitive action unlike anything seen before in BIG3 history. Every team will be granted a home game in the summer of 2025, with the full schedule available online.

Tickets for the upcoming games are now available for purchase on the BIG3's official website. Fans are encouraged to secure their seats early to witness the action.

The Detroit Amplifiers represent more than just a basketball team; they symbolize a commitment to excellence and a vision for the future of sports in Detroit. Managed by GameAbove Sports, a global investor aiming to foster sports culture by investing in teams and academies, the Amplifiers are set to make their mark in this pioneering era of basketball entertainment.
