Webb, a distinguished figure in the cybersecurity realm with over 20 years of experience, steps into this pivotal role as the organization innovates and advances in the protection of information systems.
Webb will succeed Daniel S. Nutkis, HITRUST's founder, who transitions to the role of Executive Chairman. Nutkis’s continued involvement is critical as he will focus on steering the company’s market strategy, research, and innovation initiatives, ensuring a seamless transition for customers, partners, and assessors who rely on HITRUST's comprehensive programs.
Under Webb's leadership, HITRUST aims to bolster its commitment to advancing the assurance of cybersecurity measures. Webb’s immediate goals will embrace industry engagement, pursuing market growth, and accelerating the adoption of both HITRUST's core assurance offerings and its Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) solutions—an established program recognized for effectively mitigating cyber and information risks.
In reflecting on Webb's new role, Nutkis stated, “HITRUST has set the gold standard for modern security assurance. We remain committed to delivering the industry's leading framework portfolio, merging threat-adaptive assessments with operational tools that enhance efficiency, mitigate risk, and streamline processes. I’m delighted to welcome Gregory on board; his operational leadership will undoubtedly elevate our mission for customers, assessors, and partners alike.”
Webb himself expressed strong sentiments about joining HITRUST, emphasizing the need for adaptive and certifiable assurance in an age where cyber threats are rapidly evolving. His vision aligns perfectly with HITRUST’s mission, positioning the organization as a neutral and reliable standards-setter while supporting stakeholders in their cybersecurity journey.
Before joining HITRUST, Webb held prominent leadership roles in several prestigious companies. Most notably, he served as CEO and Board Chairman of AppViewX, during which he played a key role in the company’s substantial growth trajectory. Prior to this, he held significant positions at Venafi (which was acquired by CyberArk) and at Bromium (acquired by HP), showcasing his robust career in cybersecurity and compliance sectors. Webb's academic credentials include a PhD from UCLA, and he was notably a Fulbright Scholar at Stockholm University, further underscoring his commitment to education and excellence in the field.
