Japanese eSports High School Students Shine on Nippon Broadcasting Network

Students from Japan's First eSports High School on National Radio

The eSports High School, based in Shibuya, Tokyo, is making waves as students prepare to appear on Nippon Broadcasting's radio program, "Collaborate Nippon." This program is broadcast as part of the popular late-night show, "All Night Nippon," and features a rotating series of collaborations with various companies. During the show, which airs on weekdays at 2:30 a.m. for three minutes, the guest company joins the monthly personality to engage in unique listener participation projects.

From July 18th, five students from eSports High School will be featured on this radio segment. The show’s July edition is titled “Everyone’s Ally! Central High School,” with former television writer and current school advisor Osamu Suzuki as the host. Throughout the month, Suzuki will interview students from Central High School along with those from its sister institution, eSports High School.

Between July 1st and July 16th, six students from Central High School shared their stories on air. Now, the limelight shifts to eSports High School:
  • - One student expressed how joining the eSports High School allowed them to make friends with similar interests, transforming school from an obligation into a worthwhile experience.
  • - Another mentioned that high school feels like a place they want to attend, unlike their previous middle school experience.
  • - Additionally, students highlighted their improved gaming skills thanks to dedicated teachers and their aspirations to pursue careers related to eSports and gaming.

These reflections not only demonstrate the growth of the students but also aim to inspire other middle and high school students, alongside their parents, to consider the unique educational opportunities eSports High School offers. The school's influence and appeal are expected to resonate with a wider audience tuning in.

Following the recording, a photo opportunity captured the five student participants with host Osamu Suzuki, showcasing their excitement and pride in representing their school.
