The popular idol group AKB48 is calling for new talent! Starting from May 5, 2025, budding idols can submit their entries for the highly anticipated 21st generation audition using JOYSOUND's innovative 'UtaSuki Video' feature. This unique opportunity is being made possible through collaboration with DH Co., Ltd.

AKB48, the brainchild of renowned producer Yasushi Akimoto, is celebrating its 20th anniversary on December 8 of this year. To commemorate this milestone, the group is actively seeking new members to join their renowned line-up, and the selected individuals will get a chance to shine in the spotlight.

How to Participate:

Audition applications will be accepted from May 5 to June 29, 2025. Interested participants must be female, ranging from the 6th grade of elementary school to age 19 as of June 29, 2025. Those who succeed in the audition will be required to sign a contract and will need to commit to regular participation in activities at the AKB48 theater.

Entry Submission Process

1. Preparation: Choose a song that showcases your vocal talent.
2. Recording: Use a JOYSOUND karaoke machine to film your performance with the 'UtaSuki Video' feature.
3. Submission: Log in to your 'UtaSuki' account and set your video to 'Public' or 'Member Only'. Copy the video URL and fill out the entry form on the official AKB48 audition site.

Audition Stages

- Phase 1: Initial selection via web submission or 'UtaSuki Video'.
- Phase 2: Regional audition events are scheduled across several cities in July, such as Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Osaka, Nagoya, Akita, Sendai, Ishikawa, Sapporo, and two days in Tokyo.
- Phase 3: Vocal and dance evaluations will occur in late August.
- Final Selection: The last round of auditions is set for August 30, 2025, at a location in Tokyo.

Eligibility Criteria

- Must be within the specified age range on the date of application.

- Candidates must commit to regularly attending activities if selected as trainees.
- Individuals under existing contracts with talent agencies should ensure they can meet conditions for participation.
