Utility Global and ArcelorMittal Team Up for Sustainable Hydrogen Production in Brazil

This collaboration aims to develop a clean hydrogen project at ArcelorMittal's steel facility in Juiz de Fora, located in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The project is currently in the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase, focusing on the implementation of Utility's proprietary H2Gen® system, which transforms water into hydrogen using blast furnace off-gas as an energy source.
Utility Global has pioneered a patented reactor system known as H2Gen that facilitates the conversion of various industrial gases into high-purity hydrogen, while also capturing a concentrated stream of CO2 for efficient storage. This innovative approach not only allows the produced hydrogen to replace natural gas in the steelmaking process but also significantly streamlines carbon capture efforts, thus playing a crucial role in reducing the carbon footprint of steel production.
The H2Gen system is designed to generate up to three tons of hydrogen per day, utilizing the off-gas from the blast furnaces at the Juiz de Fora facility.
