CVS Pharmacy Engages With U.S. Soccer Federation for Community Wellness

CVS Pharmacy Advances Community Health through Soccer Partnership

CVS Pharmacy has announced its new role as an Official Health and Wellness Partner for both the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). This collaboration is aimed at enhancing community health through a commitment that includes financial support to develop soccer fields across various regions in the United States.

Len Shankman, CVS's Executive Vice President and President of Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness, emphasized the pharmacy's strategic positioning to promote health at the community level. By aligning with U.S. Soccer, CVS is taking important steps to foster connections within neighborhoods and encourage healthier lifestyles through soccer. "Soccer not only promotes physical activity but also strengthens community ties, making this partnership a seamless fit for our goals," Shankman stated.

This partnership is an extension of CVS's ongoing support for women’s soccer, building on its relationship with the Washington Spirit since 2020. In addition to the Spirit, CVS is now collaborating with Seattle Reign FC and Kansas City Current. Through these club-specific initiatives, CVS aims to fund resources and create revitalized spaces, ensuring that communities have access to sports and safe places to play. This strategy reflects CVS's belief in the essential role that sports and community connection play in fostering lifelong health and wellbeing.

Matt Soloff, SVP of Partnerships at NWSL, noted the league’s growth and the significant impact it can create. "We view this partnership as a way to leverage our expanding popularity to catalyze real investments in community health and to pave the way for upcoming generations of soccer players and fans," Soloff commented.

Community Soccer Field Revitalization Initiative

At the core of this initiative is the plan to create multi-use soccer fields throughout select American markets, aiming to build accessible and inviting spaces where families and neighbors can engage in sports and recreation. CVS is joining forces with renowned soccer players like Alex Morgan—a two-time Women's World Cup champion—to amplify the initiative's message. Morgan shared, "Soccer has immensely impacted my life, and I understand how access to this sport can promote confidence, health, and community spirit. I’m thrilled to partner with CVS to facilitate access to soccer for children and families, starting from the fields where it all begins.”

U.S. Soccer Chief Commercial Officer David Wright reiterated the vision behind this partnership: "We believe soccer can influence lives beyond the field. Working with CVS allows us to connect the love for the game with everyday health and wellness for families across the nation."

Beyond enhancing soccer fields, CVS intends to support local initiatives that matter to fans in specific areas including Washington D.C., Seattle, and Kansas City. By engaging with local clubs on matchday experiences and community outreach programs, CVS aims to build inclusive environments that motivate active participation and wellbeing while fostering local economic growth.

Commitment to Health and Community

As CVS continues its mission to promote health and wellness, the partnership with the U.S. Soccer Federation signifies an important step towards embracing a holistic approach to community health. Committed to creating a healthier future, CVS recognizes the profound impact that sports can have on individuals and communities alike. By investing in soccer and promoting active engagement, CVS aims to enhance the quality of life for families in various communities across America.
