Connecting Tokyo and Hometowns: Photo Exhibition

Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. is excited to announce the upcoming exhibition titled "Journey to Meet Someone's Hometown 03: Kyoto Prefecture Photo Exhibition | Kyoto Nishiyama is Great! Photo Contest 2025". This exhibition will be held at the Tokyo Square Garden Art Gallery, located inside the 1st-floor office entrance of the Tokyo Square Garden in Chuo City, from February 2 to March 11, 2026. The exhibition will display the award-winning photographs from the Kyoto Nishiyama is Great! Photo Contest 2025, organized by Kyoto City.

Exhibition Overview

The exhibition runs daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, although it will be closed on weekends and public holidays, with special hours on the last day, March 11, until 6:00 PM. Visitors will have the opportunity to see notable photographs, such as the one awarded the “SAIKO” Prize, titled "First School Bag", depicting heartfelt moments from everyday life in Kyoto.

The "Journey to Meet Someone's Hometown" initiative aims to connect Tokyo and various local areas through photography, celebrating the culture and beauty of different regions. This exhibition marks the third installment in the series, following the earlier exhibitions focusing on Ishikawa Prefecture in August-September 2024 and Yamaguchi Prefecture from January to March 2025.

Event Location and Access

Located in the historical and culturally rich Kyobashi area of Tokyo, the art exhibition is easily accessible via multiple train lines. It is directly connected to the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line's Kyobashi Station, and just a two-minute walk from Ginza Icchome Station on the Yurakucho Line, as well as Aozasa Line's Takaracho Station. It takes approximately six minutes to walk from both Tokyo and Yurakucho stations, making it a convenient destination for art lovers and the general public alike.

'Kyoto Nishiyama is Great! Photo Contest 2025'

The exhibition features submissions from the Kyoto Nishiyama is Great! Photo Contest 2025, which sought to enhance the visibility of the Nishiyama area in Kyoto City, alongside its historical partners, including Mukō City, Nagaokakyō City, and Ōyamazaki Town. With over 1,542 entries, the esteemed Kyoto Photographers Association carefully selected 40 winning photographs that exemplified the area's beauty and enjoyment. Notable awards include the Mukō City Award for "Changing Attire of Muko Shrine" and the Ōyamazaki Town Award for "Welcoming Glow of Himefireflies".

Continuing the Tradition

The Kyobashi area was historically known for its art galleries and cultural spots, dating back to the Edo period, and has a long-standing tradition of supporting art initiatives. By continuing to host exhibitions that showcase regional themes, the 'Journey to Meet Someone's Hometown' project aims to create new connections between Tokyo and the regions while revitalizing both communities.

The Tokyo Square Garden

The Tokyo Square Garden is a significant mixed-use complex connecting directly to the Ginza Line's Kyobashi Station. With its extensive green spaces and beautiful seasonal flowers, it serves as a recreation area, contributing to the mitigation of urban heat islands. The facility boasts not only diverse commercial spaces but also venues for conventions and events that accommodate a variety of needs, enhancing its role as a business hub in Tokyo.

Conclusion

The "Journey to Meet Someone's Hometown" phot exhibition represents a unique opportunity to appreciate regional photography while enhancing the cultural dialogue between Tokyo and the beautiful landscapes of Japan. Be sure to visit the exhibition during its run to witness the stunning artistry and heartfelt stories depicted through the lens of talented photographers.
