A Unique Artistic Collaboration Returns
The cultural scene of Japan is set to witness a remarkable event as the
Piko-2/Replay performance returns with a focus on the works of the renowned Italian composer
Giacomo Puccini. Scheduled for
May 5, 2025, at the esteemed
Art Space Kabutoza located in Tokyo's
Nihonbashi Kabutocho, this project represents the second installment of an innovative collaboration between young
Kodan storytellers and classical musicians.
This year’s event promises an exciting lineup featuring a compilation of Puccini’s operatic masterpieces, allowing audiences to experience three of his notable works in a single performance. The
“Three-Act Opera” program will include selections from
Il Tabarro,
Suor Angelica, and the popular comic operetta
Gianni Schicchi. Of these,
Gianni Schicchi is particularly noteworthy for its engaging and humorous content, a unique aspect of Puccini’s repertoire known primarily for its dramatic compositions.
Last year marked the centenary of Puccini’s death, and the initial performance of this collaboration was received with overwhelming enthusiasm from audiences. Building upon that success, the upcoming show will feature enhancements, including the addition of a new vocalist to elevate the musical experience.
The event offers an unprecedented fusion of tradition and innovation, appealing to both fans of
Kodan storytelling and classical music enthusiasts. This artistic blend aims to provide a fresh perspective and intellectual stimulation, creating a unique cultural event that showcases the beauty of Puccini's works combined with the art of storytelling.
