Revival of Traditional Kyoto Architecture: Unique Tableware Sets 'KINKAKU' and 'GOJU'

A Revival of Traditional Elegance in Tableware

In a fascinating blend of art and functionality, Beniya Inc., based in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, is set to launch exceptional tableware sets named 'KINKAKU' and 'GOJU', inspired by the rich architectural heritage of Kyoto. Scheduled to be available sequentially from late September, this exquisite collection pays homage to the city's historical buildings, allowing users to not only appreciate art but also enjoy culinary delights in a manner that surprises and delights guests.

Unveiling the Designs

The KINKAKU and GOJU collections are not merely decorative pieces; they are intricately designed sets that transform into versatile tableware. For instance, the KINKAKU set, crafted from Hasami ware reflecting over 400 years of Japanese pottery tradition, provides an elegant atmosphere that enhances any dining experience. When fully assembled, KINKAKU can be arranged into seven distinct tableware items, including rectangular plates and various sizes of stacking boxes. In contrast, the GOJU set showcases the artisanal craftsmanship of Mino ware with a rich history dating back over 1,400 years. It splits into sixteen functional pieces that serve both beauty and utility.

How They Work

Each set has its unique twist. Guests will be amazed as the roof of a structure lifts off to reveal a delightful array of dishes underneath. This clever design allows the roof to serve as a plate while the inner containers can hold everything from appetizers to desserts, making it a perfect fit for celebrations or casual dining alike. The sets are crafted with thoughtful detail, allowing them to transition seamlessly from formal occasions, such as New Year's or family celebrations, to everyday use.
