Exploring Smart Nursing Care: Implementation for a Healthier Society in Japan 2026

Upcoming Forum on Smart Nursing Care

Tokyo Science University is set to host the 13th Smart Society Promotion Forum, focusing on the crucial implementation of smart nursing care in light of Japan's rapidly aging population. This forum will assess challenges and solutions, exploring how advanced technologies can better support healthcare systems.

Japan is currently facing unique demographic challenges, marked by one of the world’s fastest declines in birth rates coupled with an increasing proportion of elderly people. These changes make it imperative to establish sustainable support within society to ensure lasting safety and security. Concurrently, the advancement of smart societal solutions is accelerating at unprecedented rates. However, relying solely on traditional technologies is becoming increasingly insufficient to maintain safety and quality of life into the future.

In addressing these issues, Tokyo Science University is leading the initiative to integrate technologies such as digital twins into healthcare applications, enhancing nursing expertise and operational efficiency both within and outside hospital settings. Innovative research and development efforts are being directed toward a coexistence with AI, presenting a groundbreaking path forward for nursing care practices.

The central theme of the upcoming forum is the social implementation of 'smart nursing care.' This concept not only aims to preemptively address multifaceted health risks but also seeks to uphold the dignity of individuals throughout their lives. By advocating proactive care that emphasizes respect for patients' decision-making, we aspire to transform the standard of nursing care. The forum will foster collaboration among academia, government, and industry, working together to cultivate a new industrial ecosystem for advanced healthcare practices.

Attendees will gain insights into domestic and international digital health policies, emerging research trends, challenges faced in nursing environments, and case studies showcasing the use of cutting-edge technologies. Additionally, there will be opportunities for networking and collaborative discussions among participants, setting the stage for a shared vision of the future of healthcare.

We eagerly welcome the participation from diverse fields such as nursing, caregiving, medical services, engineering, AI, welfare, municipal governance, insurance, and many more, bringing together various perspectives to enhance the conversation.
