Charles Pinckney Takes on New Role as M&T Bank Regional President
M&T Bank's Regional Leadership Transition
M&T Bank, a prominent player in the banking industry, has recently announced the appointment of Charles Pinckney as the new Regional President for the Hudson Valley. This significant shift comes as Pinckney also holds the title of Regional President for Albany. His dual leadership roles are set to strengthen the bank's community presence and uplift its customer service in the Hudson Valley area.
Successfully stepping into this role, Pinckney will guide the bank's various initiatives and partnerships across Hudson Valley, coordinating closely with the community leadership. This collaboration includes teams from retail banking, commercial banking, wealth management, and more, ensuring comprehensive service offerings to meet the diverse needs of the community.
Mike Keegan, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Community Banking at M&T Bank, expressed confidence in Pinckney's leadership. He stated, "Charles is a lifelong resident of the Capital Region, deeply committed to our communities and well-equipped to drive economic growth and support local businesses. His proven track record demonstrates his ability to create opportunities that uplift and strengthen our local neighborhoods."
Pinckney’s background is extensive; he has been with M&T Bank since 2008 and has held several leadership positions in commercial real estate, healthcare, and not-for-profit sectors. Furthermore, his active community involvement showcases his dedication. He serves as Vice Chair on the Governing Board of Directors for the Center for Disability Services and participates in several leadership boards, including the Capital Region Chamber.
Demonstrating his commitment to the region, Pinckney was recognized by the Albany Business Review as part of their '40 Under 40' list in 2016 and was featured in the 2023 'Power 50 New Momentum'. He looks forward to building on the foundation laid by his predecessor, Mark Stellwag, who announced his retirement at the end of 2024.
Pinckney remarked, "I am excited to work alongside my colleagues in the Hudson Valley. Our community-focused approach will guide our efforts as we collaborate with local businesses and nonprofits, ultimately helping the region realize its aspirations."
M&T Bank has established a significant network in Albany and the Hudson Valley, with 40 branches spanning 20 counties. This extensive reach allows for localized decision-making regarding community programs, grants, and lending, which fosters a more personalized banking experience. The bank prioritizes local engagement, reflecting its commitment to community needs.
As M&T Bank navigates through this leadership transition, the focus will remain on maintaining its community-based business model while adapting to the evolving landscape of banking services. With leaders like Pinckney at the helm, clients in the Hudson Valley can expect a dedicated approach to fostering growth and enhancing community relations.
