In a pivotal move aimed at reinforcing its strategic business initiatives, Harford Mutual Insurance Group has officially announced several important leadership changes. This announcement reflects the company's commitment to enhancing its operational efficiency and driving forward its growth strategies.

New Appointments


Among the notable appointments is Shane Crockett, who joins the group as Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer. With an extensive career spanning over 15 years in insurance underwriting, Crockett is charged with overseeing all underwriting operations. His proven expertise, particularly in enhancing profitability and fostering growth, is expected to play a vital role in Harford Mutual's future success. Before joining the firm, he held significant positions including Senior Director of Underwriting and Production at Markel, focusing on agricultural insurance, and Vice President at Liberty Mutual where he managed regional underwriting efforts.

Crockett holds a bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Additionally, Bryan Yekstat, who has been a part of Harford Mutual since 2011, has been elevated to Assistant Vice President of Claims. Yekstat's journey within the organization showcases his deep understanding of claims management, having previously held the role of Director of Claims for Workers' Compensation. His responsibilities now will include streamlining claims handling while optimizing operational processes. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Salisbury University.

Also stepping up is Matthew Summerell, who is now the Assistant Vice President of Business Development. Joining the firm in 2018, Summerell's role involves creating and executing a comprehensive business development strategy that seeks to strengthen the company’s presence across the states they serve. With more than 20 years in the insurance sector, Summerell has held roles at Liberty Mutual Insurance and Central Mutual Insurance Company, bringing valuable experience to his new position.

Lastly, Craig White joins as the Director of Information Security. In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, White’s role will focus on fortifying the company's cybersecurity measures and developing robust security strategies. He arrives at Harford Mutual with over 17 years of experience in information security and technology, previously serving Tower Federal Credit Union in various capacities, including Assistant Vice President of Information Security. White has a comprehensive educational background that includes a cybersecurity degree from the University of Maryland University College and a master’s in Information Security and Assurance from Norwich University.
